No Direct3D Card Detected?30 Aug 2008 17:16 GMT1
Just bought a new PC with Vista pre-installed and a 4850 graphics card.
Just trying out a few of my old games to see how they run. Now I know
it's old, but I'm trying to get Richard Burns Rally to run (by all
accounts it will run on Vista).
Installing 550 Pro without disk30 Aug 2008 09:42 GMT3
I wish to install my VisionTek ATI Theater 500 Pro in a new system but have
misplaced my setup disk. I have downloaded driver but the manual says to
look for "setup.exe" Are there any files I am missing?
TIA
Two beginner's questions.29 Aug 2008 22:47 GMT3
I have an ASUS EAX1950 Pro Graphics card with 8.33.0.0 drivers.  This
performs well, giving me good frame rates in FS2004 and FSX flight sims.  My
questions are:
1    Nearly all games give advice like "Make sure you use the latest drivers
Anyone using the On Board Video of an AMD 780 or 790 Chipset29 Aug 2008 03:21 GMT6
I was wondering how users liked the on board video of the AMD 780 and 790
chipsets.
In the hybrid crossfire with a 3450/3470 it would appear to be pretty
good - not as good as an individual 4850 though.  I was going to build a
Is 1-long 2-short beeps always indicate the vid-card?28 Aug 2008 17:34 GMT6
With an Award BIOS ( Asus A8N-E) I understand
that the beep code: 1-long and 2-short beeps
during the start of post means that an error couldn't
be displayed because the video isn't available.
Best PCI-E passive cooling card (Single slot)28 Aug 2008 09:53 GMT3
I'm putting a new system together and looking for a new Video card, it will
be going in an Asus P5Q Pro and running along side a quad 6600 of some
description, but i'm not into gaming in a huge way but would like to get the

Radeon at 1440x96027 Aug 2008 23:52 GMT3
If anyone remembers the earlier questions I asked, I was trying to add a second
monitor to my system (but cheaply).  I ended up ditching my old card and
installing a card with a Radeon 9250.  I have everything set up almost exactly
how I want it-- the old monitor in landscape at ...

RAGE looks just completely awesome.
Two reasons why it looks so good, IMO:
1.) RAGE has a very  pre-rendered CGI-look to it, even if it's only

Help with ATI 3870 512MB and Crossfire????21 Aug 2008 23:09 GMT3
I was a longtime ATI user with multiple AGP based ATI cards like the old AIW
Radeon 32MB , then went to a 9800 Pro on 2 different machines. Then I won a
Nvidia card thru the now defunct PCCLUB stores and eventually bought an
Nvidia 8800GTS.

HD2600XT and HD2600PRO differences16 Aug 2008 18:07 GMT3
I am using an HD2600XT in my HTPC, and the hottest component is without
any doubt the gfx card. I don't use it for gaming at all, and it's
passively cooled. It gets very hot to touch, keeping the inside of the
case warm as well. The system is very stable and is wife-compatible in ...
PCI and Catalyst16 Aug 2008 03:31 GMT7
Relating to my earlier questions on the list, are there ANY PCI (not PCI
Express) ATI cards supported in the newest Catalyst drivers?  I'm wanting a PCI
card to use for a second monitor, alongside my current AGP card.  My motherboard
is an old Tyan A7N8X Deluxe that I'm not wanting ...
