monitoring heat30 Aug 2005 11:21 GMT9
short question: is it possible to monitor the heat on a radeon 8500 card?
I am having the well-known problem that the vpu recover function has to
come into action a little too often (say: every two minutes) and I thought
it may be a heat problem.
Mouse performance question30 Aug 2005 07:37 GMT5
I have always been irritated by less than smooth mousing.  With sample rates
not synched to monitor refresh, the mouse always skips pixels, even with a
hi res 1600dpi USB 2.0 mouse. The software drivers in XP have sample rates
for 60,80,100.

A system I was given to inspect - resetting itself not long after loading
desktop - has a 9700Pro in it. when I checked, the fan would not rotate
freely when blasted with compressed air. I think that this is the cause of
the pc resetting- when 9700 temp gets too high it resets pc ...

The Radeon has 64 meg and the Nvidia has 128. But the Ramdac is the same.
