SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2 GB (SDCZ6-2048RB) U3 & Windows 98 SE support?30 Jun 2008 09:09 GMT2
I have client who has a SanDisk Cruzer Micro 2 GB (SDCZ6-2048RB) that
comes with U3 Smart feature. How can he use this USB Flash stick/drive
under his old Windows 98 SE via its USB connection?
I did not see a driver for this specific model (SDCZ6-2048RB) on
SATA Connector Question28 Jun 2008 02:24 GMT2
Is the SATA connector on a 2.5" notebook drive a different SATA
connector than is found on the 3.5" desktop drive? I need to copy a
notebook drive, and the connector at least looks different. If it is
different, where can I find a suitable SATA-to-IDE or SATA-to-SATA
Corrupted DVD-RAM disks27 Jun 2008 13:51 GMT5
I have just about reached the point of throwing these disks away.
However, one last shot - I hope someone can help me.
I have a Panasonic DVD recorder that randomly decides healthy dvd-ram
disks are unformatted, and that they are locked, and cannot be
Dell/EMC AX100 UPS25 Jun 2008 20:28 GMT2
We've just bought an AX100 on ebay and have it running in our test
environment. Cheap and cheerful...
While we can run it on a UPS we don't have any signalling set-up so
the AX100 does not know it's on a UPS and does not enable the write
On-Line storage25 Jun 2008 13:11 GMT4
I'm wondering why I shouldn't consider an on-line back-up solution?  As
an example, allmydata.com advertises unlimited storage for $5.00 a
month.  A big external disk is on the order of $150.  It would take 30
months to pay for the disk at $5.00/month.  Of course, it would ...
2.5" SATA hard disks25 Jun 2008 12:03 GMT4
Are they using the same set of plugs as 3.5" SATA disks?
How about... 1.8 inch ones?

Snapshot of filesystems having containing media files24 Jun 2008 18:30 GMT3
I have a filesystem containing many media files such as JPEG, TIFF,
AVI in the mix.  Some of these files are heavily edited by users.  So,
if I configure hourly snapshots on this filesystem, these files end up
consuming a lot of snapshot space.  Now, if I do not configure hourly
Vista and XP booting24 Jun 2008 17:54 GMT2
I recently did a hard drive upgrade, which has left me with a somewhat strange
situation, whereby I can boot XP, and not Vista, or Vista, and not XP.
Right now, XP is booting, with no boot manager menu.
If I boot the Vista DVD and do an automated repair, it replaces the boot

DVD writer slowing down21 Jun 2008 17:40 GMT2
I have a TSSTcorp TS-H652L DVD writer that has been burning DVDs at 16x
using DVDFab 5.  Now, using the same TDK disks, it writes at 0.9 to 1.6x.
I don't know what changed.  I haven't added any hardware or updated the PC
or DVD BIOS.
Maxtor Shared Storage II faulty data transmission20 Jun 2008 19:19 GMT2
I have been using a Maxtor Shared Storage II for over a year now. This
is connected to a Netgear DG834G (aka DG834Gv1) router which connects
wirelessly to my laptop. The main use of the Maxtor drive is to store
films and my iTunes library. The network drive and the router have the
reliable HD above 500GB?19 Jun 2008 21:21 GMT5
There are some big drives that sell really cheap. e.g external Cavalry
500GB for $80, Maxtor OneTouch 4 750GB for $135, Seagate etc. They're
either unknown brand, e.g. Cavalry or receiving bad user ratings. It
appears that big drives are not as reliable as the smaller HDs. I
Crazy idea........USB flash drives converted to IDE or SATA disks.18 Jun 2008 15:54 GMT9
My computers HD crashed again and I have to reinstall everything.  Recently,
these USB flash drives are getting quite reasonable and I began to think how
nice it would be if I could used them as a boot drive instead the traditional
head thrashers.  I was looking at the 3.5 inch dead ...
Should I use a 1x or 4x SAS cable?18 Jun 2008 03:12 GMT4
I'm installing SATA drives in an external SAS enclosure.  The
enclosure is connected to a LSI Logic MegaRAID 8888ELP RAID card.
My question is, what advantage will a 4x SAS cable connecting the RAID
card to the enclosure give me over a 1x cable?  And does it matter
How to play an old floppy disk.16 Jun 2008 00:30 GMT45
A friend gave me a 5 1/4 inch floppy that she wants to retrieve some
data from.
It has a reinforcing ring around the center hole.  That means it's low
density, right?  360KB per disk, right?
