Would enterprise SATA drives like Seagate Barracuda ES.2 work in a desktop PC? I am assuming there's no difference physically, i.e. SATA data and power connectors are identical between desktop and server environments.

I wonder if any converters are out there, to make a networked storage (SMB share, NDAS, ...) appear as a USB drive. That would be a small box with a USB male connector and a 1GB Ethernet socket, remotely configurable to access the specific networked storage.

I tend to think that it would be best that an external drive enclosure would be best if it had active cooling built-in (i.e. a fan). However, I've recently seen a drive fail inside an actively-cooled enclosure so badly that Spinrite couldn't even recover it. So I'm not sure about ...
