I have a project which I need to DoD harddrives for the company. I
have large raid-scsi enclosure which I can use.
I have access Quad/Octa Xeon P4 servers with 3 dual channel LVE/SE

my seagate 200gb serial ATA drive had an accident and now requires
data recovery, the platters / motor are fine its just the controller
board that has been damaged .... anyway need to get a working drive
with exact model number part number and firware version in order to

Would enterprise SATA drives like Seagate Barracuda ES.2 work in a
desktop PC? I am assuming there's no difference physically, i.e. SATA
data and power connectors are identical between desktop and server
environments.

I wonder if any converters are out there, to make a networked storage
(SMB share, NDAS, ...) appear as a USB drive. That would be a small box
with a USB male connector and a 1GB Ethernet socket, remotely

I tend to think that it would be best that an external drive enclosure
would be best if it had active cooling built-in (i.e. a fan). However,
I've recently seen a drive fail inside an actively-cooled enclosure so
badly that Spinrite couldn't even recover it. So I'm not sure about ...

At job we have an HP Proliant DL380 G4 High Performance with a RAID 5

I have a few questions and I have been googling for a while.
You mentioned that it is a felony to erase a hard disk wrong.  Can you explain further?  Where did you get this information from?
Also you mentioned approved software?  Does the DOD actually have a list?
