I have a 120GB Maxtor Diamond that I need to recover some data from. The
drive failed tonight. It was in an external enclosure attached to my Win2K3
box via USB.  I noticed an I/O error in the event viewer. The drive spins up
fine but then is making a "Tick" noise about every 5 ...
Is  Blue-Ray and HD DVD Storage Destined To Failure?30 Jun 2007 00:53 GMT21
I was just salivating over the specifications of Blue-Ray and HD
DVD  disks. It would make backing up and storing information so much
easier for me. As it stands the best option for me now is single layer
DVDs. They hold a lot and are cheap. That brings me to an observation.

Maxtor Diamondmax 8 recovery29 Jun 2007 15:35 GMT12
I have a Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 8 30GB that appears as 'no drive present' in
a few PCs I've tried it in.  There are only some files to recover since the
last backup so it may not be worth a recovery service.  What are the
prospects that it's just the logic board, which I can get ...

Seagate eSATA, no power up after power fail!27 Jun 2007 12:11 GMT11
I'm disappointed with the Seagate eSATA drive, because after a power
failure, the drive requires you to push the button to restart it,
which is a real problem since the other equipment starts right up.
Seagate support says there's no way to fix it, and further claimed
