I have an Atlas II 15K 147 gig SCSI drive on an Adaptec controller.
I keep getting corrupt mft's and volumes when I add more than 50 or so files
to the drive. Under 50 files it seems to run OK.
This drive is on a server 2003 box.

Do smaller drives boot faster?30 Nov 2006 11:51 GMT7
I have put together an AMD X2 4200 CPU machine that currently has a
320gig Sata2 drive and 1gig of memory. If I had add a smaller (say
80gig) sata2 drive and just put OS (WinXP) and programs on it and put
all data files on the 320gig, will that give me a performance boost?

I got myself a new 80 pin cable.  I went to remove the old cable and I
seen that the pin on the motherboard IDE slot had bent.  I tried to bend
it back but in the process I broke the pin so now that IDE slot is dead.

IDE reset problem29 Nov 2006 23:20 GMT17
I'm trying to control a Cypress USB-IDE bridge chip to turn on and off
a 2.5" HDD by controlling the chip's power on reset signal. Once the
chip's reset signal(RESET) is pulled low, it will pull the ide reset
signal(ARESET) low also, and release it about 35ms after RESET is

I have an ASUS motherboard with Athlon 1.4 processor. This had a 40Gig WD
drive which I removed. I installed XP on a new 60Gig drive (as a test) and
it seems to work fine. I then cloned the drives of an older Win 98 machine
to the 40Gig drive using the older machine - no problem ...

WD800 connector27 Nov 2006 21:43 GMT12
A friend gave me a Western Digital WD800 drive.
It has a strange connector on the end. In place of the normal 40 pin
connector, or 80 wire 40-pin connector, that other drives have, and
that the WD website indicates that it uses.
