I was using my computer (surfing the Web) and then XP told me delayed write failed. Then, I loaded up HD Tune and SpeedFan separately to check SMART Status. They both showed a failure. Here's HD tune: HD Tune: IC35L040AVER07-0 Health

I have a pair of IDE SG HD working fine and I have tried to install an SG ST3400633AS Sata HD and cannot get my system to recognize this drive when it is connected. I get the message: HardWare Initiate failed, please check device!!!

If a hard disk has been damaged by someone turning the PC off at the mains (it wasn't me, by the way!), and this disk was to be then put into another machine as a slave drive, is there a chance this could damage the motherboard of this other PC?

Does anybody know if there are any external enclosures that support SATA2/SATAII/SATA300 drives. In particular, a seagate (500GB or 750GB) SATA300 drive. I have done extensive searching, and am unable to find any enclosure that definitively says that it will work with SATA II
