Dead HD with tons of bad sectors but some surviving files - could Spinrite help?24 Aug 2005 23:50 GMT6
In my continuing scramble to get surviving files off my crashed and
(to Windows) inaccessible HD, I've found the website of the program
Spinrite.
It's said to support NTFS, it does low-level search, but I'm unsure if

I've had some weird behavior on my WinXP Pro system since adding two

Recovery tool doesn't find first cluster24 Aug 2005 23:34 GMT12
By mistake, I deleted some files on my NTFS drive. After I noticed the
mishap, I didn't use the drive anymore for write access. Since the files
were too big for the recycle bin, they were not recoverable by "normal"
means.
Good software for bad sectors?24 Aug 2005 23:31 GMT22
I have a 50GB HD which I use for secondary storage, is now about 3
years old, and it seems to have had a major crash. I can't access it

bad sectors then crashes with an "undefined error".

local network and the film kept stopping. So I went into the ...

True Image 8 question about creating active partition image24 Aug 2005 19:29 GMT5
I've successfully used True Image 8 (trial) to create an image of my
primary active parition.  I was surprised that it created the image in
the background while I was still multi-taking from the desktop.  (Older
imagers I have used required a reboot to create the image prior to

Just wondered if its OK to run 2 IDE devices as Master/Slave on each channel

paging file size23 Aug 2005 18:47 GMT13
I was advised by a computer tech (who upgraded my system) to use a 1 GB
paging file on each of my two HDs. Is this optimal for distributing
