My eMachine 1860, running WXP,  has been flakey on boot for a year now; once
it is on it is fine, but it hands on boot about 20% of the time.
Monday it simply wouldn't come up, hanging on "IOM.SYS" everytime.
I took it in to the shop.  They found a cable was nicked and the jumpers

My Gigabyte motherboard has built in regular IDE and SATA. I have an
existing IDE drive connected. Can I add a SATA also, or do you have to
stick with one interface at a time?  The documentation isn't really
specific.

Is there a disk imaging proggie where I can:
1. Make a bootable DVD disk, _not_ a rewritable but a standard - or + DVD
(not CD) disk.
2. Put a recoverable_complete_ image of my hd (size is <4 gigs) _not_ parsed

I am trying to find out how to do something that does not make much
sense to me. I have spoken to a few people who say they have taken
multiple servers (1u in this case) and striped the drives on those 1u
servers so that all servers in the group were seeing all data on all

How could I backup windows XP so that I could restore it to the exact
settings I have in place without having to backup the entire drive?

If i backup selected files to the Maxtor One touch and then move the
one touch  dirve to another pc, can i just open one of the files using
this differnet pc ( using an application or windows explorer)?

I'm looking to speak with someone who has been through a major change
of their primary storage vendor. How did you do it? How did you move
your data? Why did you do it? Was it worth the hassle?

I would like to save some files onto external USB drives (OS is
Windows 2000). This should happen automatically: Users just plug in
the drive and leave the machine running. Sometime later (at night) a
batch job starts and copies files over. The next day the user unplugs
