Can Ghost restore to a smaller partition?31 Oct 2004 22:35 GMT4
Windows XP Pro
Say a NTFS boot partition is 20 GBytes of which 10 GBytes is free.
If you make a Ghost backup and try to restore it to
a 11 GByte boot parition, will it work?
Raid 0 vs Raid 1 - To be or not to be31 Oct 2004 14:00 GMT6
I have just gotten a new system with 2 160GB SATA drives and am trying
to decide which RAID configuration would be best RAID 0 or RAID 1.  I
would appreciate any suggestions to make my choice easier.
XP - Win 98 Dual boot?31 Oct 2004 12:51 GMT8
I may be getting a new computer soon and it will no doubt be pre-loaded with
XP.  I would like to retain my current setup with Win98 since I have been
warned that many of the programs I have with 98 may not work properly with
XP.
Looking for driver for "Portable LS-120"31 Oct 2004 12:50 GMT1
I recently ran across a "Portable LS-120". No other specifics, just an ano-
nymous grey metal box for use with a parallel port with "Portable  LS-120"
printed on top of it. It has a bridgeboard based on a Novega chip NV96C18.
Have searched with Google, www.DriverGuide.com and  www ...

In attempting to create a boot disk for DI, the only option appears to be a
network boot disk, but I have no use for such. is there a way to create just
a normal disater recovery boot disk in DI 2002?

Network Attached Storage advice30 Oct 2004 22:31 GMT9
I'm considering buying an NAS with RAID for a reliable storage of A/V
data. There seem to be a lot of proprietary O/S devices, and I'm
concered about what happens if the device itself fails. I have lots of
WinXP machines around, so it would be nice if I could mount one of the
V20z opteron, Red Hat, Sun StorEdge 3510 FC Array?30 Oct 2004 15:18 GMT1
I'm trying to connect a 3510 fibre channel storage array to a V20z
(AMD opteron) box running
64-bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.
Both the 3510 and the V20z are sun products:
Clariion Drive array help30 Oct 2004 13:48 GMT7
I just picked up a Drive array for a really great price from a local
auction from a business that was going under. This device was tucked
in a corner and it was doubtful that it worked (it powered up fine
when I got it home).  This business didn't have any other EMC

I have always claimed that the whole Ultra ATA 66/100/133 is just a scam, as
the interface is not the bottleneck.  I get lots of people arguing with me
about that, probably ...
Whats the best defragger for WinXP?29 Oct 2004 22:15 GMT14
I'm thinking of improving upon the basic built Defragger offered by MS.
I know there's a defragger in Norton Utilities and there's Diskeeper v9.
There was also a shareware one (I think) that had a good rep but I cant
recall the name.
Question: Reliability of physical snapshots on SANs29 Oct 2004 16:32 GMT3
As far as I know some SAN solutions are able to snapshot
a 'partition' on hardware level.
So after performing the snapshot (which takes a second or so)
directly on the SAN,  I see partition P and the snapshot P'.
BIOS reports correct size, W2K setup sees only 2Gb29 Oct 2004 14:54 GMT4
I have a drive (Deskstar) of 20Gb. The BIOS of the PC reports the
drive as 20Gb correctly. When I try to setup W2K, the setup program
reports a Unformatted or Damaged partition. So I delete the partition
and create a new one of say 10Gb. The machine formats it as NTFS,

MMC/SD storage both ways?28 Oct 2004 23:49 GMT1
I have a MMC/SD in my camera and love it -- for that.  I don't haved a USB
reader and see where they are from $10 to $30 and for USB2 are quite fast.
Yes, I've read the ads on these things but haven't read where you can store
data from your PC to the card -- as if the card is simply ...
