Inexplicable data loss on WD Hard Drive01 Oct 2004 00:52 GMT2
If anyone has the slightest idea how to resolve, or even explain, this
problem, I'd be very grateful.  I have two hard drives, a 10gb Maxtor
primary with Win2k installed, and a 160 gb Western Digital slaved to
it.  I needed to wipe the maxtor and reinstall windows, so I copied
Interpreting SpinRite log (SMART)?30 Sep 2004 22:54 GMT6
I use SpinRite 6 regularly to check a 40GB Seagate drive (ST340823A).

Network attached storage?30 Sep 2004 22:29 GMT17

accessed over a IP network?  I know I could just use a PC with windows
installed, but I would REALLY like to find a device that is small and more
hardware based rather than a PC that relies on the OS being stable ...

Cache Battery - What if power goes down more than several days?30 Sep 2004 14:31 GMT8
A very happy EMC Clariion CX customer says that he will not consider
buying an IBM FAStT because in case of power failures, the CX
automatically downloads unwritten data from cache to disks using their
self power cells. Does anybody know about workarounds to have this

Windows XP disk size limit30 Sep 2004 04:26 GMT5
I have a Western Digital 250GB internal EIDE disk which I'd like to add
to my system, but I've been told that Windows can only support drives
with a maximum of 137GB out of the box.  Is that correct, and if so how
can I get around this limit?

IDE Cable Questions29 Sep 2004 02:15 GMT4
I have a few questions but I'm not sure if this is the right place to
ask.  If it's not, please point me in the right direction.
First, is it okay to run a drive's power cable parallel to its IDE
ribbon?  I know that sometimes in electronics that's not the best idea
