Can video image of 2 layer (Movie) DVD be saved onto Single Layer DVD
by using any compression utility ?
Any advise and pointers or links appreciated.

Installed a new DVD/CD-RW combo (Lite-On SOHW 1673S). I was of the opinion
that the little audio connector from the drive to the sound card was
unnecessary for digital sound.
Sound works great on CD playback, but nothing on DVD. Am I missing codecs or

I've installed Burnatonce (ver. 0.99.5) on my Win XP Pro Service Pack 2
machine.  I installed it under user account X which temporarily had admin
privileges.  I then removed admin privileges for that account.  I find that
when account X has admin privileges I can write to my CDs ...

I used Nero and quick-erased a cd-rw disc by accident, and I know it
is unrecoverable unless I send it to one of those places that do work
on it and charge alot. I was wondering if there is any software out
there that does a safe quick-erase that can be recovered easily if you

I have install a new DVD writer but the drive is not recognised properly. It
reports:
This device is not working because windows cannot load the drivers required
for this device. (Code 31)

Howdy: Can anyone point me to a site that can help me tear apart a
CD-R/W drive?? It's a Samsung if that makes any difference. The drive
is broken and out of warranty. I already have a new drive, but thought

often get errors with 5 seconds to go
sounds like a grinding sound or a rubbing sound every 10 seconds or so

My system has a combo drive that has finally bit the dust.  I also
have a dvd burner.
1.  Will the dvd burner burn a 700 MB cdr disk?
2.  Does it make sense to replace the combo unit with another one?  Or

association? These are DVD movies disks.
