I have a memorex 52x CDRW in an external USB 2.0 enclosure. I've taken
the case apart (not an easy or intuitive process), and put in my new LG

Is it possible to substitute a Desktop CD-ROM drive (HP Pavilion, ~3 GB)
for my not-working laptop CD_ROM drive (slimline; Compaq Armada; ~1998)?

Weve all seen the warnings on the faster discs that they may cause damage to
older slower drives.
Can anyone explain the reasons why this is so or point me to any web pages
with tech info?

Can someone point me in a direction where I can find some info on burning some
of my old lp's to dvd or cdr. What hardware/software is needed? Any help is

I have a question about buying an external dvd burner using USB 2.0.
Our computer has USB 1.0, does that mean I cannot use this device?  I
am worried if I buy this I will not be able to use it on USB 1.0

I need to contact Utmost Technology for customer service, and there's
no manual and no number or address on the box.  (It's a CD ROM R/W
burner).  They don't seem to have an internet site either.

cables, and will it make a difference in performance/reliability?
