Copied disc - inherit errors?31 Jan 2005 19:43 GMT10
I just ran the Scandisc utility in Nero 'CD Speed' to check the surface and
files of a newly written CD-R - it was a brand new disc from a fresh batch
of Imation CD-R's. It has no scratches, marks or fingerprints - but the
results of my test showed that 20.07% of the disc is damaged ...
Nero 5 leaving out folders/files on my CDs!31 Jan 2005 11:03 GMT11
I decided to make a backup of all my email (Mozilla) to a CD-RW using
Nero 5.5.3.1 which was bundled with the PC.
Much to my shock I see that the CD is completely missing a lot of
messages. Certain folders are simply empty, and I can't figure out why.
Feurio Still Viable?30 Jan 2005 20:35 GMT1
With all of the problems/issues associated with Roxio and Nero, I've decided
it might be better to have dedicated burning applications:
Adobe Premiere for DVD creation
Deep Burner Pro for CD/DVD backup

Still Looking for a DirectCD Alternative29 Jan 2005 18:34 GMT13
DirectCD is extremely unreliable, and Roxio was able to screw it up
even more with their latest version that's bundled with Easy Media
Creator 7. Roxio is the **most incompetent** software company I've ever
known.
Reading unlinked sessions on a multi-volume disc29 Jan 2005 17:52 GMT4
I've got a multisession CD-R in which the the files in the first
session are (deliberately) not linked to the remaining sessions; so
when the disc is viewed in Windows Explorer, the first session's files
are not visible. I need a way to view them. On my old Windows 98

Norton Ghost 2003 Bootable CD29 Jan 2005 08:36 GMT1
I am able to make a bootable CD that will boot into Ghost and then
restore my image. What I want to do is just be able to insert the CD,
restart and have the image restored. I know this is possible because I
have seen CD's that do it but I do not know how to do it myself. I'm

can you get it if there is.
double sided DVDRs - a dumb question29 Jan 2005 00:16 GMT5
When you use a double sided DVD writer and double sided disks, do you
have to manually turn the disk over to write on the second side or is
the writer somehow designed to be able to just go from side one to side
two by itself?
BIN and ISO storage28 Jan 2005 19:47 GMT14
I've got a couple of .ISO and .BIN files taking up large amounts of space on
my harddrive. I'd like to delete them, but am scared to in case I ever need
to burn the image again.
Assuming I've already created a working CD from such a file, can I just do a
Is a DVD-RW a CD-RW?28 Jan 2005 17:49 GMT12
I don't work with DVDs at this point, but if I buy a DVD-RW drive will it
also serve as a CD-RW drive?
Are the DVD-RWs considered not as reliable as a DVD-R, the way I've read
that CD-RWs do not offer as reliable a media as CD-Rs?

Need a tool that can repair MPEGS?28 Jan 2005 08:09 GMT2
Does anyone know of a tool that can repair MPEGS?  I've downloaded some VERY
large MPEGs and some don't play properly all the way through.  These files
are over 500MB in size.
Could someone suggest something that can repair these files?
