Using win 2000, on boot up the bios see's the cd device and the writer

everywhere I try on the internet, it seems it is no longer available.  Why
is that and is there a recommended  alternative to it?

How do I know if my CD player is reading properly?30 Sep 2003 13:10 GMT1
I tried to install software yesterday and the installation seemed to stop
when copying files to the hdd for no apparent reason. The "busy" light kept
flashing in random fashion and at various "blink rates" until I cancelled
the install altogether. I then tried to copy via Explorer ...

I use Roxio DirectCD-formatted CD for copying/carrying files.
I found that DirectCD-formatted CD is very convenient like formatted floppy

Newbie:Recording music to CD29 Sep 2003 01:42 GMT2
I'm just staring to play around with recording music from my satellite dish
system to the CD. The question is, is there a way to split each song into
tracks? My first try produced one track about 60 minutes long. What software
is everyone using?
Someone got info about "Allstar" 90min blanks?29 Sep 2003 00:51 GMT3
Recently, I noticed an unavailability of 800MB/90min CD-Rs in the shops
(this is Greece, pal).  The *only* brand I've found is "Allstar", 2x - 48x.
With 75 cents per blank, I can't say it's cheap; quite the oposite.  (Euro
cents, but it's almost the same in US dollars these days.)

Info on Plextor PX708a/sw28 Sep 2003 07:18 GMT9

computer, and I'd like to incorporate video in this one, as well as
