"Generic" ink and printer trouble30 Sep 2006 16:56 GMT30
Measekite has claimed ad nauseum that many, if not most, of the posters
to this newsgroup that have reported printer troubles are reporting that
the troubles are traced to the use of non-OEM ink, "generic" in his
terminology. I disagree, as do several others who regularly post ...
Lexmark install problem30 Sep 2006 16:47 GMT2
Dear Shooter,
In the first box I chose Install and the next box I was told that there was
just 191 MB of space, way from the 800 MB needed by Lexmark's files.
So there was no option "Custom" or on which drive to install the files.
Refilling HP DJ12030 Sep 2006 13:05 GMT19
I have an HP Designjet 120 and would like the print to be more durable.
Even with original inks the print fade very rapidly. Once i made a
printout that looked fine, but on the way to mu costumer the print faded
so much that the costumer was dissatisfied. The trip took only 45 ...
Laserjet 4Plus and Powersave30 Sep 2006 11:53 GMT3
I've been experimenting with an old HP Laserjet 4 Plus. It's a great
printer except that it's fairly noisey. I don't mind the noise while
it's actually printing, but even when it's in powersave mode, the fan
still runs. Does anyone know if there's an option or firmware upgrade
standards30 Sep 2006 09:17 GMT16
If ANSI (the American National Standards Institute) enters the foray on
any of these issues regarding ink quality, longevity, etc. etc., I
might lend them some degree of credibility. In the meantime, if any
publisher, agency, institute or anyone else who is in any way
Photosmart 7700 POS30 Sep 2006 03:46 GMT1
We bought a HP Photosmart 7700 awhile back from Costco, and were in the
process of moving, so we didn't take it out of the box for a little over
year to set it up.
Then it printed a few things nicely and failed, saying that one or more
anybody tried the Office Max inkjet refill service?30 Sep 2006 03:35 GMT7
I went into Office Max to get my ream of paper for a Lexmark 88 cartridge
and found you now have to buy something to get the "free" paper.  At least
they still have the offer: Office Depot and Staples only allow you $3
against the overpriced cartridges they sell.
jagged angled lines30 Sep 2006 01:58 GMT26
I have a question that I hope someone here can answer.  I have an older
postscript printer.  It will be replaced soon, but I want to try to get
to the bottom of why it prints jagged angled lines, but when I create a
bitmap of the same angled line and print that, the printer displays ...

Going to take a chance and try refilling HP Designjet 3000cp28 Sep 2006 16:53 GMT3
Since the HP CP series print heads get replaced when buying a new set
of inks/heads, I figure the worst that can happen is I clog the heads.
I'm going ahead and refilling the dye ink cartridges, using Encad GA
dye ink. It was made for a slightly different HP print head, since that

Canon ip4200 question28 Sep 2006 13:20 GMT2
I am trying to get this set up on my system.  I have it linked to a desktop
PC and, wirelessly, to a laptop in another room.  I have loaded the Auto
Sheet Feeder with envelopes, and the Cassette with A4 paper.  Now if I want
to print a letter and then an envelope on the desktop, ...
