| Question regarding film | 29 Nov 2006 21:47 GMT | 8 |
I have been scanning (see, kind of on topic <g>) old family pictures. I have run across some negatives that I'm curious about. Usually 4 in a strip and measure about 1/2 x 3/4 inch for the picture area. I have *NO* idea what these might be nor what camera they may have come out ...

| Scanning vs digital image | 29 Nov 2006 18:48 GMT | 219 |
Since I make shows for large screens, I still use slides, which I scan when I need a print. I have a Coolscan IV, and the scanned images are close to 10 M pixels. Yet I have the feeling that digital images, made with a camera with much lower

| Just bought Nikon 9000ED to replace 5400. | 29 Nov 2006 03:53 GMT | 3 |
This of course is a "For Sale" in disguise... my Dimage 5400 is for sale. Perfect condition, original box, manuals, accessories, s/w, etc. I do more Medium Format than 35mm film shooting, so the 5400 isn't of

| Scanner exposure settings when gang scanning multiple photos | 26 Nov 2006 19:19 GMT | 15 |
This topic deals with getting the optimum exposure for EACH photo when scanning multiple photos at once on flatbed scanners. First off, do typical (under $200) flatbed scanners adjust the physical exposure time of the CCD based on the preview scan? I'm referring to

| Old Epson scanner & Windows Vista | 26 Nov 2006 14:48 GMT | 1 |
I tried to install Windows XP Epson perfection 610 driver (32bit) on Windows Vista (32bit), but it failed. Will Epson release a new driver for Vista for this old scanner? Or is there any way to use XP's driver on Vista? Or there's no way but to throw the scanner away?

| ViewScan Pro 8.3.74: Noise (?) on final scan - but not on saved preview | 25 Nov 2006 21:22 GMT | 4 |
Having a few problems with rogue red and yellow pixels in small areas of final scans from my otherwise reliable Canon FS2710. Strange thing, though, is that if I save the preview image (I'm only scanning for web use right now) they're clean, suggesting it's not the

How do they compare with the 4990 with respect to sharpness and dynamic range and how do they compare to each other? What's this "Micro Step Drive technology" in the v750, and does it work?

| Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED Scanner Speed? | 25 Nov 2006 01:39 GMT | 7 |
I've been using a Nikon Coolscan IV ED, film scanner for about 3 years. The slow speed of this device is really starting to get to me, despite the fact that it produces acceptable quality and is still functioning just as well as the day I got it. A full 35mm
