| Testing processor performance | 30 Sep 2008 23:38 GMT | 5 |
I have been trying to test cpu performance using Nbench and have found that I get better results running XP on VMWare system using a quad core than I do on an XP system running a dual core AM2 5200+ or 5000+ . I clocked the same system with the two different processors

After reading the messages posted here through hardwarebanter.com (the Hard Drive thread), I've decided to kill file that source. Hardwarebanter.com is 'mirroring' alt.comp.hardware.overclocking and several other hardware Usenet newsgroups. Alt.comp.hardware.overclocking ...

There are lots of reasons why a hard drive can make clicking noise, and yes, the most common reason is malfunctioning head stack (either a head itself or the preamplifier chip that is located on the head stack). But there are chances that the problem is not the head stack.

| Too much undervolt results in no BIOS? | 23 Sep 2008 12:38 GMT | 1 |
A few months ago i bought a GA-MA78GM-S2H board and an amd 4850e to fit in it. I also got all the other stuff to make a pretty decent htpc, which has been running just fine ever since. Last week i tried to underclock and then undervolt the cpu to see if i

I'm currently using an Asus P5B Plus with an older Conroe running at 2.13 GHz. 4 Gig DDR2-800 memory. The P5B uses the Intel P965 chipset and claims to support 1066/800/533 system bus speeds.

| ASrock Conroe E4400 Overclocking problems Part 2 | 12 Sep 2008 00:25 GMT | 11 |
Have finally got round to investigating the problem. Repalced ram with Crucial DDR2 667. It will now POST to 256 MHz with PCIE Aysnc at 114MHz. NB There is a PCI bus lock so that keeps it at 33.3MHz anyway.

| avoid disk crash while overclocking? | 07 Sep 2008 15:14 GMT | 6 |
Sometimes when testing the limits of an overclocked system, the hard drive may crash requiring the OS to be re-installed. But without the hard drive, it is hard to run stress tests (most run under winXP). What do you do to avoid having to re-install the OS over and over?

| please suggest Q6600 mobo | 07 Sep 2008 15:04 GMT | 2 |
I haven't been keeping up with motherboards for a year. What now is a good overclocking mobo for the quad core Q6600? It is used mainly for video editing and encoding: one 2D video card with dual link (for 2560 x 1600 monitor), 2 to 4G DDR2, winxp or vista (may also setup a ...

| Overclocked My Aging Pentium 4 | 04 Sep 2008 13:46 GMT | 6 |
I was tinkering around my BIOS after listening to a podcast about overclocking and I found where I could Change the FSB of my CPU. It was running at 2.8 ghz and the FSB Was 133. I slowly crept the FSB to 144 with multiplier at 21 as any higher gave me errors in windows .
