| My E7300..... | 26 Aug 2008 05:20 GMT | 12 |
I mentioned here a while back that I was going to upgrade my E4500 [65nm/2.40GHz/2MB] @ 3.32GHz/1.375V for an E7300 [45nm/2.66GHz/3MB] and that I was hoping to get 4GHz out of it. Sadly I was aiming a bit high. After much non-POSTing, not loading Windows,

| Acer M1640 motherboard | 23 Aug 2008 07:08 GMT | 1 |
Does any one know the identity or number of the motherboard in an Acer Aspire M1640? Or better yet, a link to the manual for the motherboard? The M1640 comes with hard/software support for RAID (NVIDIA). Hard drives are really cheap so I was considering installing RAID 0 support

| AMD 690G chipset is incredibly hot, wastes electricity & time | 20 Aug 2008 16:09 GMT | 1 |
nVidia & VIA chipsets are far cooler, I'll avoid AMD chipsets after this Asus M2A-VM : I had to tape 7 hsinks, fit 1 fan to cool this mboard 's pll ic & 4 regulators & 1 chip & chipset's 2 small hsinks. Luckily my small psu can cope so I need not

| Gigabyte GA M55SLI S4 v2 underclocking question | 15 Aug 2008 06:34 GMT | 4 |
I just installed Everest Ultimate monitor & diagnostic program, and noticed that my Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (2800 MHz) is running at 1005 MHz and the clock multiplier is at 5x instead of 14x. I went into the Bios to the MB Intelligent Tweaker, and the CPU frequency, PCIE Clock, and ...

| Opinions on CPU choice please.... | 10 Aug 2008 06:43 GMT | 11 |
I'm thinking of replacing my E4500 @ 3.32GHz with a 45nm part as this was always my plan on buying this mobo (P5K-E WiFi-AP). I'm on a tight budget. I was considering getting an E8400, that was always my plan. However, I see that an E7200 is only 2/3 of the price, has a higher

| Q9550: No price drop?! | 09 Aug 2008 11:41 GMT | 1 |
It seems that the Q9550 prices were not cut along with the E8400 and E8500. They were supposed to drop to the level of the Q9450. Even then, the price is a bit steep for an 8.5 multiplier when compared to the Q6600. Somehow, I lost my Q6600 overclock stability on the Biostar P965. ...

| PC Power Consumption | 05 Aug 2008 13:53 GMT | 7 |
A few months ago I posted about a AC electrical power meter I'd found advertized for $18.95. I just purchased one, and have found it useful and accurate. My initial idea was to use it to check PC power consumption for different operating modes and loads. But what with the ...

| Vista 64 and 4 GB of RAM on TL-60 | 02 Aug 2008 05:26 GMT | 1 |
I am looking at a new laptop and Frys is offering one with a TL-60 processor, 4 GB of ram running Vista 64 bit. I have read that PCs can't really use more than a little over 3 GB. But I wonder if this is a limit of the OS or the CPU? Does Vista 64 have this same
