DDR2 MHz vs Latency29 Jun 2006 12:35 GMT4
Hi people.
I'm buying a new computer soon, and was thinking about memory. The proc will
be Intel Pentium D 930. I'm thinking about kingmax, 533 and 667MHz models.
Are the 667 models with higher latency than 533 or the same?
conroe challenge27 Jun 2006 15:01 GMT16
Having been with AMD for years and very happy with the products, I'm finding
the news about conroe very interesting.  If the power and overclckng info
surrounding the conroe proves to be accurate, what has AMD got lined up to
counteract the Intel attack on the enthusiast market?  ...
Athlon 64 3800 Venice price drop27 Jun 2006 14:44 GMT4
Current price for a S939 A64 3800+ Venice ("BP" retail box w/ HSF) is
$149 on ZipZoomFly.  Seems like a pretty good deal.
HSF recommendation needed25 Jun 2006 23:14 GMT16
I need help on finding a new HSF. I just got an Athlon XP 3000+ (barton)
and it seems to run way hotter then my old XP 2100+ (tbread) that was
OC'd to 2600+. I was using a cooler master copper heat pipe HSF with 6500
rpm fan. With the fan running at half speed (through a fan bus) ...
Case with big fans and removable filters25 Jun 2006 19:21 GMT12
I will build a new system soon.  I've more-or-less decided what
will be in it.  I still need to pick something to go around it.
I'd like a case which can take 120mm fans, as I've lived with a
noisy machine for ages, and I'd expect the big fans to be a
aegis physics25 Jun 2006 02:39 GMT16
See the new physics chip is out in the UK - will there be any benefit to
current games or is it a case of waiting to see what games are written to
support this new technology (and what ATI and Nvidia do)?
Heatpipes, how do they work?24 Jun 2006 12:51 GMT10
What is the technology behind heatpipes?
I know they carry heat away from the base to the fins.
But what is inside the heatpipes that make them work?

Better heatsink/Fan for Intel D 80523 Jun 2006 00:47 GMT3
I'm currently using an Intel D 805 (Socket 775) overclocked to 3.34GHz
and using the stock Intel heatsink/fan. CPU gets a little hot during games.
Want to get a better heatsink/fan that does not cost a lot.
(Do not want to spend $65 for the Zalmen 9500)
Motherboard for Optron 144 with AGP & DDR slots?22 Jun 2006 20:09 GMT7
I'm looking at getting an Optron 144.
I've got an X1600 AGP card and 3 stick of 512MB PC3200 memory.
And a 600W power supply, 1 SATA & 1 PATA HD and a DVD burn & a DVD player.
What would be a good motherboard for overclocking?
Opinion about clocking on my 2800+22 Jun 2006 11:15 GMT6
While I have essentially underclocked my processor ever so slightly, I would
think that I have actually improved the performance, if I am following thing
correctly...

Watercooling and shutdown sensor21 Jun 2006 12:00 GMT2
Today I installed a "CoolerMaster Aquagate BIG" watercooler in my PC.
Motherboard: MSI KT3 Ultra2, processor: Athlon 2000+
The installation itself went just fine and a love the silence of the fan and
stability of my system running easily at 1.8 GHz without any problems (even
Slowing down CPU speed21 Jun 2006 09:23 GMT5
I have an HP ze1230 laptop with AMD Athlon XP 1300+. The machine is
giving random strange answers to some numerical problems. I checked the
same program on 3 other computers and none had any problems.
The machine is running hot. I placed it in a fridge but made no
Unknown CPU Typ !20 Jun 2006 21:18 GMT3
-I've installed an XP-M 2600 cpu overclocked to 2300 Mhz into an Abit NF7-S
motherboard and the system info describes the cpu as "Unknown CPU Typ", even
in the bios it is described as such. Is there any way to change this message
?
