AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice vs. Manchester core?31 May 2006 07:03 GMT5
I just upgraded my system for the first time in 3 years. I had
selected the AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice for $150 to go with an Asus
A8N-SLI motherboard, but the store only had used ones. I was then told
for $20 more I could get a used Athlon 64 3500+ with one of the "older
AM2 vs. Socket 93929 May 2006 01:00 GMT13
Have been taking a look at the AM2 processors.  What's the big deal?  Is
there a major performance jump for AM2 chips?  Clock speeds are roughly
the same.  Architecture isn't that much different.  DDR2 is no
advantage, is it?

Max vcore for Winchester26 May 2006 17:54 GMT12
I've got a Winchester [3000] at 250 FSB and 1.6v.  It's been there a month.
I'm wondering how 'dangerous' 1.6v is.  Without any guarantee, would it seem
safe to increase from 1.6v?
Thanks
Sempron 64bit overclock?26 May 2006 01:02 GMT7
I'm thinking of buying a Sempron 64bit 2800+.  The motherboard I'll be
buying for it is the ASUS K8V-X SE.  What kind of overclock can I expect
with this setup?  I'm only familiar with overclocking AMD XP type CPUs.
What settings should I use?
Question about fan strength25 May 2006 20:38 GMT2
I have 2, 120mm fans cooling my sytem.  One fan is weaker than the other.
Should the weaker fan be in the front intake or the rear exhaust?
Thanks.

Underclocking FSB on an XP 2100+ / KT266A mobo?23 May 2006 06:04 GMT2
Here's the deal:  I've got a (old, yes) DFI AD70-SR mobo, with the Via

from the spec 1.75).

Now that I have my system stable. I am thinking of making the transition
from Windoze to Linux SuSE 10.1.  I was curious to hear opinions or horror
stories from anybody else that has tried swapping systems.  I also was
hoping that there will be as many unix overclocking tools as ...
