I have seen lots of reviews of videocards and the results are usually based of fps. Could someone tell me the *minimum* fps is required for not seeing "lagging" in games, so that the game runs smooth? Also, when they say the minimum fps seen was 6 (for sake of discussion), the ...

| barton 3200+ math question | 30 Jul 2004 17:55 GMT | 5 |
i'm awaiting the arrival of my cpu in the mail and have been prepping my mobo in anticipation, but the math isn't making sense. the 3200+ batron is definitely a 200mhz FSB, and the mobo definitely supports it and is configured that way (soyo SY-KT600+). but what about

| ATI good or bad | 30 Jul 2004 11:30 GMT | 9 |
I want a new graphics card to replace my old GF4 Ti 4200. I've read that the NVIDIA will slot in to my system and work first time but to add a 9800 or x800 then I would have to get used to editing files and/or applying patches to enable the card to work at full speed.

| What processor for system build? | 30 Jul 2004 11:18 GMT | 22 |
Having done a bit of research, looked at what my supplier (who will do the actual system build) have available, and decided on my price range, I've narrowed down my choice of CPUs to the following 5: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Barton OEM (400Mhz FSB) (£90.16)

| how do i tell what AMD CPU I have? | 30 Jul 2004 06:08 GMT | 5 |
Actually, I have a number of old AMD CPUs salvaged as part of old upgrades and the like. I'm now trying to fit them to a rogue collection of old-ish and occasionally new but hardly top-end MBs to make some slightly upgraded systems for where I work.

currently I am running my XP 3200+ at 210 MHz FSB with 2310 MHz real speed. I am not sure though if changing the FSB also affects the PCI bus clock on my nforce2 Ultra 400 board Epox 8RDA3+. There is no BIOS option for adjusting PCI clock speed and I would not like to risk data ...
