S5200NX will not accept restore disks31 Mar 2009 05:37 GMT2
A friend's Compaq Pres. S5200NX failed just like 2 years ago.  Restore
set fixed it then.
Now monitor was blank when trying to boot.  (He admitted he "messed
around with it" while I was on vacation.)  I determined a hard drive
HP xw6400/8400 bios support for E54xx Xeon's (Penryn) - NOT!30 Mar 2009 20:47 GMT11
HP has yet to provide a BIOS update to support the new chips for htere
systems. Every other motherboard/system house has done so by now
including DELL. They all use the same Intel 5000X chipset so there is
no technical barrier. Is this a sign of a inept company or just
TMDS Protocol and Software27 Mar 2009 00:37 GMT3
I have a question related to the DVI  TMDS (Transition Minimized
Differential Signaling). I realize this has little to do with HP
specifically --and I would appreciate it if you could direct me to a
more relevant forum with knowledgeable people on the issue-- but I
OT/Question "Adding Memory To Laptop" (Ben Myers)24 Mar 2009 15:32 GMT5
This is on an old IBM ThinkPad 2652 A31
I will be adding 512 to the original 256 (running XP SP2).
Is there any advantage to place the 512 where the 256 was...or just
add the 512 in the empty slot?
4GB Memory on my 32 bit CPU23 Mar 2009 17:42 GMT9
I have a 32 bit HP dv9810us laptop that has 4GB as its max memory. I know
that the 32 bit processor limits the OS to addressing about 3GB of RAM. If I
added more memory to get to 4GB, would the built-in shared memory nVidia
GeForce use any of the 4GB memory that the OS can't use ...
Device Drivers19 Mar 2009 20:13 GMT5
I'm looking for opinions on whether one should update drivers if you don't
need to, i.e. if everything works OK, should I do any driver updating if
there is a driver update available. I know the old saying "If it ain't
broke, don't fix it" but my old employer paid Fran Tarkenton ...

I received this computer from a friend and I believe it is the power
supply.  The box is completely clean all plugs and cards are plugged in
tightly.  The green light on the back of the machine goes out when the
power button is pushed.

For a long time, I've had an HP DeskJet 812C connected via parallel
cable to my Win98SE machine. I just bought a new Windows VIsta

I set up a share to work? I saw that Vista has the printer as an
Hp a1020n04 Mar 2009 15:42 GMT1
I am having trouble with a HP Pavilion a1020n.  The account user screen
comes up as Hp_user.  When clicked it just redirects back to that
screen.  Under safe mode I get administrator and HP_user with the same
results.  What could be some of the problems?
