Floppy Disk Direct-Write Procedure31 May 2009 23:48 GMT3
Hey folks, I'm wanting to clarify how you would interface with a PC
floppy disk drive directly, so maybe somebody with this oldschool
knowledge can help shed some light on this for me!
Basically, I can't seem to find info on how you write to the disk.

TheQuickBrownFox & FatBytestard31 May 2009 01:12 GMT5
TheQuickBrownFox & FatBytestard are two of Archie's more than forty
different nyms that he uses on Usenet.  Why does he do it?  A
difficult question when you take note of the fact that he consistently
presents as the same abrasive dimbulb in just about every post, using

mistory of the missing DVD Drive30 May 2009 11:16 GMT3
Hi.  This is unusual. I boot up the PC and find in my computer that
the DVD drive (E) is missing. If I install a bootable CD, nothing. If
I boot into the Bios setup it is there. If I re-boot the PC it asks
about booting from the drive. I can boot from the drive (Norton ghost)

Can no longer access BIOS29 May 2009 18:11 GMT5
I`m encountering a very strange BIOS *access* problem unlike anything I`ve
ever dealt with before.
I can NO longer enter the BIOS *OR* the F-8 "Quick Drive Select"  feature of
my (Socket 939) Asus A8V Deluxe (AMI BIOS) *OR* even the (press TAB) BIOS
By default, typically, numeric keypad (numlock) is On/Off?29 May 2009 03:24 GMT13
By default, typically, numeric keypad (numlock) is On/Off?
On my Intel mainboard, the numeric keypad is on by default, so it does
not type numbers. Is that typical for most personal computers?
Thanks.
Freenet server box28 May 2009 00:52 GMT3
Will likely use Epox mb with AMD. Somebody last year mentioned that
64-bit and multi-core boards offer less security and copy freedom than
earlier Athlon bds. Is this true? Want good Java reliability for setting
up a Freenet node so maybe Solaris...what's a good OS choice for a

One or more of Scott Moulton mentions that some lubricant

Best PC multiple hard drive setup?  RAID?  Seperate?26 May 2009 18:29 GMT9
Hi folks.  I've been building my own PCs for a few years now and right
now I've got my OS, Apps, and Files in a 600GB Raid 0.  I'm starting
to wonder if it would be better to split the 2 drives into OS on one
and Files and Apps on another or maybe buy another drive and separate
ITX ATX26 May 2009 18:28 GMT4
I came across a pretty good deal for an ITX MB w/CPU. It's for light duty
desktop use and I'd like to swap it into my existing ATX midi-tower case.
Will that work?  That is, will the MB mounting holes in the mini-ITX board
line up with those in the existing case I have?  Will the ...
