Swap HDD on Dell GX270 Small Form Factor Box06 Sep 2007 23:04 GMT2
I recently acquired a couple of GX270s with 20 GB drives with the
intention of installing a 160 GB drive. In this version of the box the
HDD is mounted parallel to the front of the box (perpendicular to the
floppy and CDROM) on Dell-specific rails.

Faulty CPU fan cause mobo to not power up?06 Sep 2007 18:38 GMT14
OK. So if the mobo detects a CPU fan fails it powers off the
system....
Would a faulty CPU fan mean that a mobo wont even power up or will it
try and start everything first and then power off ?

Can I use epoxy on a harddrive?06 Sep 2007 18:18 GMT9
I have a harddrive that had a bent contact pin on the IDE connector.
Using a needle nose plyers I was able to straighten it.  But when I

Finding the USB2.0 port at the back of PC06 Sep 2007 05:54 GMT27
I've just tried installing a 3rd webcam on a WinXP machine this week,
and like the other 2 webcams, I'm getting a message saying that the
device could perform better with a USB 2.0 port or something like that
-- also, the camera resolutions are so bad that I've had to return 2

I am a novice at computer hardware but am not shy of experimenting. I
have a dell 8200 which does not boot up (even with a good hard drive). I
am pretty sure the processor works, it is just that the graphics card
has gone bad so I don't see anything on the screen. I also have a ...

Hiccuping hard drives05 Sep 2007 22:53 GMT6
I thought this repeating clunk followed by a whistle was the sound of
drive failure.  It stops when I cut power.  I ordered a new identical
replacement drive and the same thing happens.
