CPU-Z not reading cpu speed correctly01 Aug 2007 00:04 GMT3
I just finished my new build which is Asus P5K mb, E6850 cpu and 4gb DDR2. I
have disabled Speedstep in the bios so cpu should be running full tilt all
the time but in XP it is reading as 6x333mhz=2ghz and in Vista64 it is
fluctuating between 6x333mhz and 9x333mhz. I've set the ...

VGA vs DVI Monitor Hookup31 Jul 2007 19:21 GMT10
I just got a new LCD monitor today -- my first.  It's doing something
I think is called ghosting.  I'm using VGA because that's what my
video card supports.  I talked to a tech support guy and he said DVI
cannot have ghosting, and if I used DVI it would eliminate the

Troubleshoot intermittent shutdowns30 Jul 2007 19:25 GMT3
I have about six months on a new power supply.  It is an Allied
ATX500W.  I have been having problems recently where my rig will just
shut down.  Pushing the power button doesn't turn it back on.
Flipping the toggle on the power supply doesn't either.  The only

Troubleshooting question30 Jul 2007 08:01 GMT4
Here is what I know.  I just built a new PC, everything worked fine
for the first 2 weeks.  I am using cannibalized  hard drives and a DVD
drive.  Until today, everything worked fine.  Now, my system crashes
and plays a single beep from the system speaker whenever I try to put
Compatible SATA Burners30 Jul 2007 06:06 GMT11
I have been reading in some of my local boards that many people are
having various issus with SATA Burners on their Asus boards from XP
having problems IDing the drive to CRC errors. I have the P5PE VM. I
don't have an SATA drives at all in my system.
Shallow desktop case?29 Jul 2007 19:31 GMT2
I'm looking for a Micro-ATX case that's no more than 12-13" deep. I'm
having a hard time finding one. Just about all the HTPC cases, even
the slimline ones, are 15-16" deep. The "slimline" cases don't work
either--the Antec Minuet, for example, is about 17" deep. The "cube"

Power supply and cable managemt29 Jul 2007 13:29 GMT2
I'm (re)building a PC and am struggling with power supply options.
Since the PC has a side window, I'd like things inside to look neat.
So I'm favoring a power supply with modular cables so that I can omit
unnecessary wiring.
NTSC Question / 6845 CRTC Registers29 Jul 2007 08:09 GMT4
Hiya folks.  I got all interested in project building last summer,
only for winter to roll around and put a damper on my soldering
(couldn't open the windows), so I pretty much fell out of the
electronics mood for quite a while.  But that urge to build has

Harddrive wont spin up29 Jul 2007 00:26 GMT9
I have a Quantum fireball 20gig harddrive.  It has been working fine
as my master.  I have another identical drive for my slave.  Earlier I
started my computer and it would not boot.  I unplugged both drives,
changed the cable, all the usual stuff.  Booted from a floppy and
