What part to upgrade?22 Jun 2007 14:46 GMT3
I have a intel pentium D 2.80ghz dual core processor, a sound blaster x-fi
fatality xtreme gamer, an ATI Radeon 1900 XTX, and 4 GBs of Ram, running
windows 64 bit.
I am starting to struggle with modern games, and was wondering which
Case with 3 fans, MB only one plug for turn-on lead(?)22 Jun 2007 14:31 GMT4
I have a case with 3 fans. Each fan has a power connection and another
small wire which I'm guessing is the turn-on lead. Is there a way to
get these all hooked up if the motherboard only has one place to plug
this wire?

Fan problem?22 Jun 2007 07:38 GMT1
I just installed a new fan because my old one was really loud. Now
with the current one, I can hear a vibration. It sounds (and feels)
like the fan is hitting something, but when I open the case I don't
see any problems.
no 4 hole 12v power plug?22 Jun 2007 04:53 GMT6
In the instructions with my power supply and also the motherboard it
says to plug in the 4 hole 12v plug but there is no such plug on the
power supply. I'm guessing because there IS a 24 hole plug that it is
the one to use and the 4 hole is not used. So why is it in the
SATA Internal vs SATA External21 Jun 2007 23:54 GMT3
I recently had a power outage at my house and I guess my surge
protector was bad because my external USB 2.0 IDE drive is TOAST and
will no longer show up in my computer (I took it out of the enclosure
and installed it internally and it wouldn't show up either). SO, today
USB to PS2 Mouse Adapters21 Jun 2007 22:54 GMT5
I'm replacing a Microsoft mouse that had a USB connector, but came
with a USB to PS2 adapter which I use to connect to a PS2 extension
cable that connects to the PS2 connector on my box.
I bought  a new Microsoft mouse today and when I connect it to the
3 gig ram single channel vs 2 or 4 gig dbl channel ??21 Jun 2007 22:51 GMT2
Not being too informed regarding single ch vs dbl ch, I do understand
that dbl ch is "better/faster"; BUT also that winxp doesn't use
all 4 gigs as it is a 32-bit OS & about 1 gig isn't recognized.
I've tried google to check whether putting 3 gig in a current MB
Good idea to wait til end of year to build?21 Jun 2007 13:08 GMT5
I was going to start planning to build my first PC (a high end gaming
rig) within the month or 2. I've been on a bit of a technology hiatus
prior, and went out and bought a preconfigured PC from
cyberpowerpc.com which is now in transit back to them (thank god for

Cannot copy some files from hdd21 Jun 2007 02:16 GMT3
I have to reformat a computer that seems to have major problems.
I pulled the ide hdd and put it my computer and have been copying
data to a folder.  Some files (the owner.wab address book for outlook
express) won't copy.  It says "Cannot copy Owner: The request could
Video Goes Bonkers21 Jun 2007 02:14 GMT5
Yesterday my computer worked fine. Today I turn it on, and the monitor
is filled with colored lines with semi-readable words embedded in the
colored chaos I am seeing.  I should note this occurred when I first
turned on the computer and before booting.  Even when I boot to Dos, I
Confused: 965P, 650i, 680i or P35 ?21 Jun 2007 02:02 GMT2
Hello all, new to the group...

consisting of 8800 GTS 640k, 4 gigs of ram (vista 64bit), wd raptor

Pentium 915 versus Core2 Duo 630021 Jun 2007 01:55 GMT4
I have a pentium 915.  Is the Core2 Duo 6300 noticeably faster?  They
are still around 100+ bucks, and want to know if I will notice
anything.  If not, I'll just throw in some more ram, as I only have
1gb now.
Help! thermal compound or not?21 Jun 2007 01:45 GMT3
I'm about to put together my new computer (1st time, don't laugh). I
always thought that thermal compound is to be used. Neither the
instructions for the processor (Core 2 duo E6320) or the motherboard
say anything about it. There seems to be a pattern of grey matter on
