While it was testing rotational speed, the disc wasn't turning at all. Is it

off but all case fans etc were still running. I pressed the power button and
the pc turned off immediately. I powered up again ...

ark in modum and now 3d card problem23 Jun 2007 13:59 GMT2

Hard drive circuit board - Sata II23 Jun 2007 04:37 GMT31
Ok, I have a major dilemma here.  My seagate SATA hard drive's circuit
board is toast.  There is a black burn mark on it.
So, I did what anyone would do when they panic, I called DATA RECOVERY
and of course, it is going to be $450.00+ to recover, plus the cost of
APC backup battery voltage puzzle22 Jun 2007 22:46 GMT4
I have an APC ES-500 backup battery on a newish homebuilt PC with 19"
CRT display, 4 harddrives, and AMD dual-core CPU--not to mention the
DSL modem, wireless router, and powered USB hub. As you can imagine on
power failure--which rarely happens for real--I get a minute or two of
More RAM makes larger Swap file ????22 Jun 2007 16:39 GMT2
I have found that adding more RAM makes a larger Swap file ????
Shouldn't it get smaller as I add more RAM?  I know the swap file
takes the place of Ram when it's needed, so why is it working
backwards and making the swap file larger?
Which wire positive?22 Jun 2007 16:29 GMT4
I'm hooking up the front panel connectors. My Gigabyte instructions
don't specify which color wire is positive. The connectors have an
arrow on one side, is that the positive? These are the reset switch,
hard drive light, power light, etc.
How to test power supply22 Jun 2007 16:27 GMT2
I found a computer case with power supply in the trash.  Of course I
always grab things like that.  I happen to have a noisy fan in my PS
so U was thinking of swapping them.  Of course I could just swap the
fan, but the PS I found has more wattage.
