I have lost my left channel sound on my homebuilt system. It has an Intel
D865PERL mainboard with onboard SoundMax 4XL using AD1985 codec. I have
tested the speakers on another system (good). I have plugged in working

I have a line on a 26" Phillips HDTV whose native resolution is 1366 x
768 that I'd really like to use as my primary computer display.  I

3.3V on ATX power supply doesn't work31 Mar 2007 01:32 GMT11
I am building a pc and it doesn't work, so I got out my voltmeter and
shorted the 14-15 pins on the power supply to turn it on, and tested
all the pins. None of the 3.3V's work (there are 3 of them), they are
all 0 V. I just wanted to check, well this is stupid to ask even, but

Low Power Hardware for a Linux Based Router / Firewall30 Mar 2007 02:21 GMT7
After about 2 years of using NETGEAR FVS328 router / firewall with
extreme disappointment, I am ready to give up on it. Yeah, it cost me
almost $200 but it is so buggy and less functional than an older Linux
RH 6.2 based firewall that I built many years ago, it's not even

DVDdrive reads as cd drive in xp?30 Mar 2007 00:16 GMT11
I have got a weird problem where windows xp keeps recognizing my dvd's as

Since I've installed vista on my wife's computer, I've had to reset the
clock manually a few times.  I finally found out that vista has a feature
that will auto-sync your computer's time on a regular basis to one of
several Internet time servers.
New build report29 Mar 2007 04:00 GMT5
Ok, so I built the darn thing and it's cranking at 2.7 with a 300 FSB. The
CPU temp is pushing 60 under full load so I've stopped here until new
heatsink arrives. The GPU is reporting 60 also so I've got to do something
about that...
