Question on using two stereo systems with my computer28 Feb 2007 22:19 GMT1
I have a computer that has an Audigy 2 sound card/breakout box(?).
I have it currently connected to a smallish bookshelf unit that had 5

I also have an older "Hoss bitch of a system."  It has 2 massive
upgrading mboard in HP Pavilion 453528 Feb 2007 20:38 GMT2
Recently, my Mother-In-Law gave me her old (~1999) HP Pavilion 4535
system.  It is pretty small, with just a single 5.25" bay for a DVD burner.
It would be perfect for my grandparents, who have never had a system before,
except for one thing:

the old IDE disks. My plan is to upgrade piece by piece. CPU is a
Pentium 4 3Ghz. OS is XP SP2 with latest updates via auto-update

of the dos remote machine.
I understand all of them but the last.

Notebook DVD ROM/ CD Writer Combo27 Feb 2007 22:52 GMT3
I've had a problem with the above on my HP-Compaq notebook for a month

motor that moves the lens assembly around and it no longer does it with
any degree of accuracy, and is very hot when I've finished reading a ...

Low Power Consumption Monitor Suggestions?27 Feb 2007 19:38 GMT4
I'd like suggestions for low power consumption lcd monitors-preferably
ones that are inexpensive and compact.
I live off-the-grid, so power consumption is a real issue.
I've seen some stuff that is oriented to the "carputer" market-but I
What is the correct way to thank people that post a reply to your suggestion?27 Feb 2007 19:20 GMT8
If I post a question on a newsgroup, I may get anywhere from no
response to a dozen response.  Some may be helpful, some may not be
helpful.  Should I thank each one individually or should I just thank
all the people in one message?
