I can't record sound from a microphone. Have tried the windows
recorder and two webcam apps.
I have a QuickCam Web, and concede that that mic may be dead. It shows
though in Device Manager and that the drivers are there and working.

I have a new HDD arriving Monday under warranty and must give the old
corrupt drive to the courier in exchange.
The old drive does fire up into windows after about 6 hours and it is

I've done lots of Googling. I have two sticks of 168 pin sdram 1gb
each, exactly the same. Both sticks work in either slot. The bios

I have the content of a CD (data) on an external hard drive in a
folder, say 'CDCOPY'.  I also have a program that expects CDs that it
reads to be on a disk in a disk drive.  That is, selecting the
program's 'read CD' option causes the program to read from a disk

Is there any way to make an old (1994 era) Conner CFS420A hard drive
work with a USB to SATA/IDE adapter?
When I hook up the CFS420A to the adapter it spins up OK and is

I have read that the word 'enhanced' in Device Manager indicates my
machine has USB2.  Now then - I have eight USB ports.  Are they all

I bought two Seagate 'FreeAgent' external hard drives (500GB) at
separate times. I mistakenly bought two different models - one has
SATA and Firewire in addition to USB, but the other only has USB.

I can't reistall my laptop because windows (tried with 2000 and XP)
