I have this wierd problem with a XPS 720. I have it with 4GB of memory (4x1024 mb). Windows XP 32 bit detects it only as 3GB under my compluter and the task manager. CPUz shows all 4 slots filled though.

Any recommendations for a motherboard with ECC support? I know most people don't bother with ECC, but it seems likely that they just don't know if their RAM has errors (unless it happens in a critical bit and Windows just dies)

Hey guys, I did a Windows reinstall on my PC today, and completely reformatted the hard drive as well. Prior to the reinstall, I backed up all my important files to my external HD.

I have two 160GB sata hard disks (Samsung and Hitachi). After a computer crash both of them became 137GB (in bios and xp). I tried 3 different motherboard's en one pci sata controller but the result is the same. All motherboards recognise 500GB sata hard disks.

I am tossing two old computers, but would like to put the hard drives into cases to be used as "portable" drives. Is there somewhere I can go to find out how to do this? Is it difficult?

Was recording sound in Audacity, and suddenly the recording sound stream just stopped, and audacity recorded only silence. Sound from the external source still goes into the pci sound card and out again to the speakers, so the problem has to be somewhere in the pc. Trouble

woke up one morning and turned my computer on and all that happened was a flash of light from the neons on the front and nothing :( like a fuse had been blown... all parts were recently replaced all were new... if anybody might have some idea about what is happening here id love ...
