When I close Windows Explorer window (by clicking on the 'x'), I get a replication of explorer windows. Likewise, I get same replication sometimes when I select windows explorer icon on the desktop. Any ideas why?

This is a 120GB hard drive. I have tried every jumper setting and also with no jumper setting. The unit powers up but my computer Dell Pentium 4 will not recognize the hard drive. Samsung says they don't their support hard drives used in external enclosures. My computer recognizes
