I recently acquired an older Gateway PC to use as a server. I took out a
few bits, and now I'm testing them in case they might be of any use.
One item is a modem. It is:
Gateway part no: 6001259

Faulty Device Driver - How to Fix/Find?20 Sep 2005 17:08 GMT1
Just about every time I pull my puter out of the sleep mode the damn thing
just shuts off. It then reboots on its own.
The error note from Microsoft says "a device driver installed on your system
caused the problem; however, we cannot determine the exact cause".
*Ancient* kit. "EZ BIOS" and Win 98.19 Sep 2005 21:30 GMT7
I'm trying to set up an old desktop for someone who's currently
running Win 95 on a 486 with a 14.4k modem. ;-)
The box I have is a P5-133, 64 MB RAM, and it comes with
something called "EZ BIOS". This last item is causing me all kind

Well,  I posted a little while ago, about the debacle, on trying to
return my laptop to gateway, and trying for weeks to get a box from them to
return the laptop for warranty service on a three month old unit. (they said
they wouldnt accept for warranty any computer that ...
Where did everyone go?15 Sep 2005 03:58 GMT36
Gee it looks so empty here, you would never even know there were gateway
users.  Could it be there are so little problems with a Gateway product
there is nothing to complain about or fix?

Cleaning Laptop Screen14 Sep 2005 06:07 GMT4
What's the best way to clean a laptop screen with the new Ultrabrite (smooth
and shiny) screen?  I've always used distilled water and a soft cloth on my laptop
screens, but it's hard to make them smear-free when drying.
Thanks!
Just When You Think You Have Them Pegged14 Sep 2005 06:05 GMT4
If you hate Gateway/Emachines tech support, stop here as you will have
you most basic perceptions challenged.
Two weeks ago I casually asked my grand-daughter why I never see her on
line any more and why of late she has to come to our house to do her online
Gateway: Fresh install ofwin xp?13 Sep 2005 15:11 GMT6
I have been looking at a Gateway  7330GZ forabout a grand.

Gateway M320 "X" key is sticky13 Sep 2005 06:26 GMT1
Nothing was spilled into it.  I think its a mechanical issue.  Is there
a way I can pop it off and not break it, then put it back on properly?
Ailing computer12 Sep 2005 20:52 GMT13
Do not know if my GW is feeling it’s age or if there is a software problem.
Running WIN98 SE and cannot create a new folder on drive – get error message
and request to debug brings up DrWatson and about 10 error messages.  Also
cannot run check disk to fix errors. Otherwise ...

The only real difference, besides the creataive sound chip,  is the on
Catalyst 5.8 for ATI Radeon 8500/700XL System?09 Sep 2005 03:02 GMT4
I'm troubleshooting sluggish performance with the most recent version of
Street Atlas (2006), and as always, the video driver is always a possible
cause.
The system is a 2.2 GHz Pentium 4 700XL, purchased in spring of 2002, with 1
How do I get to what starts up08 Sep 2005 20:43 GMT1
It has been so long since I went to the place where you turn off what starts
up when the computer turns on I forgot what to type in at RUN.  I just built
