hello i am sort of new a this and i own a dell dimension xps r400 wit
windows 98 preinstalled,20gb maxtor hd w/ 384 mb of sdramand and a 400m

Recall from earlier this year.. I've never been able to burn to the 670
CD-R/ DVD-R drive. The vendor replaced the drive under warranty and
today I was able to burn a CD-R using CDBurnerXP software, but Sony
DVD-R burning STILL fails.

If I would buy a new hard drive for dell 420,and used Acronis true image to
clone vista 64 bit from old HD would it also clone the partition that I have
on the old HD.Right now I have 15gb of unallocated partition on the old HD,I
think that's from the original dell recovery ...

When I turn it on, it turns off after a second or two.
I press the power switch again and it will start up fine.
