Dell E248WFP Whizzing Noise, but strange01 Sep 2008 00:19 GMT2
I've just noticed that my new Dell monitor makes Whizzing noise on specific
Amazon web page!  I think it is Contrast and text related as I cannot hear
it when contrast is under 30.  But could someone with same monitor confirm
this?  Whizzing noise only appears when page
Vostro 1500 laptop PS/2 doesn't fit?31 Aug 2008 23:36 GMT6
since day one, I'd been using a USB wireless mouse. But today I took the PS/2
wired mouse from my Dimension 3000 and tried to plug it into the port at the
back right of the Vostro laptop. It doesn't fit, though it looks like it should.
Then I tried a wireless Logitech with PS/2 ...
Dimension 5000 lost onboard sound30 Aug 2008 21:41 GMT3
I had to reinstal XP Pro and somehow managed to lose the onboard sound. I've
tried reinstalling drivers but no joy.
Device managers shows that SoundMax drivers are installed but it also shows
a Multimedia Audio controller as having no drivers.
dell datasafe raid1 ?30 Aug 2008 18:49 GMT1
Has anyone had any experience with this pre-installed by Dell?  Does
it work well, or are there potential pitfalls I should be aware of?
I'm about to order a XPS 420, but debating whether I should add the
DataSafe Raid1 option.  It would be a $150 upgrade to get a second
add 2nd monitor to 840030 Aug 2008 18:43 GMT7
I have a basic 8400 that I haven't updated.  It runs with a 19" Dell
monitor (with usb ports).  I'd like to add another monitor.  I opened
the case and it looks like I have one slot available  (the others
taken by video card, wireless card and soundcard).

No power29 Aug 2008 15:26 GMT2
I removed the cooling stack in my Dell Poweredge 700 server to clean it.
However, after reinstalling it, the computer fails to start up. No power.
Nothing. Could it be that I replaced it incorrectly or is the power
supply bad? I always thought that no matter what went wrong with ...

any way to increase RAM above 2 GB in a Dell precision?28 Aug 2008 17:08 GMT5
I've got a several year old M70 (2.00 ghz with 2 GB RAM). It definitely
clogs up with all the applications starting up. The first five minutes
the mouse may freeze due to all the updating, virus checking, pulling up
the pants, etc. going on. I also run a GIS with pretty large ...

I updated the BIOS and the CD/DVD driver on my XPS-M1330

loud BZZZ-BZZZZT at the start of the BIOS's POST stage.  It's
loud enough to be distracting to others in a conference, classroom,
A Dell XPS system and another blast from the past27 Aug 2008 21:18 GMT2
Got some interesting old hardware recently for cheap, as in free.
One system was an original Dell XPS 100MHz Pentium system in a desktop case.
This is the one that used a baby AT sized board cobbled up with an ATX-line
power connector, made extra special OEM for Dell by Intel.  I ...
