| Missing CD drive on XPS210 on boot - Comes back after a while | 30 Nov 2007 22:34 GMT | 3 |
I have an XPS 210 running Vista which has been giving me the following problem since new, although I've only recently tried to get to the bottom of it. Basically, when I first boot the PC, the CD drive is missing from Explorer.

| G.Skill memory | 30 Nov 2007 12:51 GMT | 9 |
I see newegg has a good price on G.Skill laptop memory. I was going to do pc2-4200 but pc2-5300 is cheaper but using this brand I never heard of. So far from what I read, the brand is okay but just wanted reassurance from here. BTW, newegg has it for $20.99

| I did contact Pacific | 30 Nov 2007 06:56 GMT | 3 |
I had asked the question here: at what point is a battery deemed replaceable under the 1-year warranty. Nobody here really seemed to know, so I emailed Pacific. Their response follows. But it seems weird that they would replace it if it seems to be 50% degraded. That's pretty ...

| 1GB vs. 2GB in Vista | 30 Nov 2007 00:28 GMT | 5 |
I just installed Vista Ultimate on a Dimension 9200 E6600 with 1GB. Pretty powerful machine. I've had Vista on a matching D9200, but that machine has 2GB. First, always disable Indexing. TERRIBLE resource hog.

| Vista and XP on peer to peer home network | 30 Nov 2007 00:27 GMT | 3 |
Can someone refresh my memory? I think someone already asked / answered this but I forgot. If some pc's or laptops switch over to Vista, will the Vista and remaining XP machines network nicely together? Or what do I need to do to make them cooperate and share

| 1680x1050 resolution on 20" & 22" monitors | 29 Nov 2007 23:29 GMT | 6 |
I recently received and have set up my Dell 2208WFP 22" widescreen monitor. It runs at a resolution of 1680x1050 pixels. The picture quality is nice, but it doesn't seem to be quite as sharp as my previous monitor, the Dell 2007WFP, a 20" widescreen monitor that also ran at ...

| Inspiron 531 serial port | 29 Nov 2007 16:26 GMT | 20 |
I've recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 531 and I like it. However, it uses MS vista and it doesn't have serial ports. I use X10 Activehome to control lights in our home and the computer interface uses a 9 pin connector. The USB to RS232 adapter cable, I purchased, will not ...

| E1405 ram memory | 29 Nov 2007 16:10 GMT | 10 |
As long as I buy PC2-5300 ddr2 dimm memory for my E1405, I presume it doesn't matter how many pins it has? I've seen on different vendors ram for this laptop say 200 or 240 pins. Just want to be sure and not guess before I part with the cash <g>. thanks.

| Dell Inspiron blinking light question | 29 Nov 2007 13:59 GMT | 4 |
With the AC power on, when the lid is closed, the light all the way on the left blinks green and later alternates between green and red. What does the red light mean? I could not find anything in the documentation about this.

| CableCard tuner | 29 Nov 2007 06:00 GMT | 17 |
It appears that Dell has dropped the ATI CableCard tuners. They offered them for the last two weeks (yes, two weeks) of the XPS 410 life and now the 420 doesn't offer them. I'm interested as it is the only way to record Premium cable channels.

| OT, can't access web site | 28 Nov 2007 12:31 GMT | 6 |
My apologies, but can't think of a better place to ask help! (This does occur on my Dimension 8300). I subscribe to the NY Times Premium Puzzle page for my husband. Have not accessed this for several months, as I'll go in, download a bunch of puzzles and print them out for him.
