| KVM on win95 | 06 Jul 2007 04:30 GMT | 2 |
I tried a Belkin PS/2 KVM switch between my win95 machine and an Inspiron 1200 with Belkin PS/2 to USB adapter. It worked okay sort of, for a while. On the Inspiron 1200, the monitor (NEC Multisync LCD1700V) characters

Ok, I'm posting this for a relative who owns a Dell laptop he bought four or five years ago (or longer) running Windows XP. Here's the deal - he can only get dial-up at his home. He goes thru a local internet provider. For e-mail he uses Outlook Express. He also

| Desktop hmm | 04 Jul 2007 19:07 GMT | 9 |
Well, if you set up to order a desktop, it winds up costing more than the laptop equivalent, or pretty nearly so. (9200 vs say 9400) The advantage of the desktop seems to be that it can take 4gb ram. Am I missing something?

| XPS M1330 laptop | 04 Jul 2007 00:10 GMT | 3 |
Well, I guess the XPS are labeled poorly too :) Has anyone seen one of these? My daughter's I6000 died a horrible death and so I'm going to trickle down my I9300 to her. Then I get my own new laptop.

| i6000 - Fan Cleaning | 03 Jul 2007 22:26 GMT | 3 |
My daughter's i6000 fan runs all the time. It's quiet, but it runs all the time, even when the machine has been idle for hours and closed up in standby. I'd like to clean the fan, but not by blowing compressed air into it. I'd rather gain access to it and suck up any dirt/lint ...

| OT__ Is this worth anything??? | 03 Jul 2007 01:14 GMT | 2 |
I just made a post regarding some computers I've owned. I still have my first one: a Commodore Pet 4032 and it probably still works. I've kept it with the idea that maybe one day it will be worth a lot (like those finds on those antique shows).

| Laptop Cooling Stand | 03 Jul 2007 00:02 GMT | 1 |
The Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand is pretty nifty, having got one. Runs quietly off a USB port, produces noticeable cooling as well as a little draft that cools your arms. Of course that convenience does cost you a USB port, if you're short of them.

I have full installs on different hard drives of Vista and XP on my 640m laptop. Without a doubt, things run faster on Vista. Word 2007 is very fast on Vista -- it probably runs in about 2 seconds, while on XP it takes

| UPS recommendations? | 02 Jul 2007 10:04 GMT | 72 |
Ran across this info, does it seem about right? http://www.visitinggeeks.com/press_room_heatwave.html A typical computer with a 15-21 inch LCD monitor will be well protected with a 500VA UPS. A larger monitor and extra peripherals
