Power supply09 Jul 2007 17:45 GMT8
Today, I put a different power supply(because mine didn't work) from another
Dell Dimension and it will power up, but I can't see anything on the monitor.
What shall I do?
Is the FSP ZEN 300 badly designed only or the FSP is a bad designer and does not notice "small" malfunctions?09 Jul 2007 15:35 GMT1
I bought FSP ZEN 300 fanless PS. It made a crackling sound sometimes,
which was accompanied with a monitor screen image trembling. The shop
replaced it with another FSP ZEN 300. The second FSP ZEN 300 makes the
crackling sound 10 times rarer, but still makes the monitor screen
Funny how support changes09 Jul 2007 10:17 GMT9
Interesting looking back on my purchase decisions.
It must be 15-20 years ago but my first PC was an IBM (I think PS2). The
reason: high quality and excellent support and at that time there wasn't
much competition.
``Supports 1920x1200''?09 Jul 2007 05:19 GMT4
What Dell laptops support a 1920x1200 24" monitor (Dell 2407WFP)?
How is the monitor connected to the laptop? (what sort of jack)
They say the system needs to support it but are unhelpful about
whether theirs does.
750 GB Drives - Noise and Heat?08 Jul 2007 22:16 GMT6
I'm thinking about adding a 750 GB drive to my XPS410.  How would you
describe the noise level of the Seagate and Western Digital 750 GB
drives?  Also, do I need to add additional cooling?  Tom's Hardware
had this to say about the WD7500AAKS:
Hot Weather Fan Speed.08 Jul 2007 21:13 GMT12
My dimension 3000 fan has been responding to our heat wave lately by
really revving up.  Its fine in the morning but as the temperature in
the room hits 90 the fan takes off.  I've been shutting it down the
past several afternoons but it cuts into my work time.  I did dust the
E520 connected to a power strip08 Jul 2007 19:34 GMT4
I've always had my PC's connected to a power strip along with the
monitor. I find that if I do a normal shutdown of Vista on my E520, it
does shut off. I then turn off the power strip to turn the rest of the
equipment off.
O.T., please? Pysol Solitaire08 Jul 2007 18:04 GMT2
I'd been playing Pysol 4.41 solitaire games for years now, to try to
prevent my 80 year ood brain  (this August),   from turning to
gorgonzola cheese.
The program crashed and I didn't have a backup. (I hate myself because
New E520 Status - I like it!!!!08 Jul 2007 01:44 GMT4
Got my E520 last Wed (arrived 3 days before scheduled ship date).
No problems at all. Added 1GB to increase to 2GB. Set up the machine.
Network setup was *WAY* easier than XP. Very fast. I actually like the
interface, especially the search box under Start.
Adding a hard drive to an E52008 Jul 2007 00:32 GMT14
Today I added a second SATA hard drive to my E520 system. It "clicked"
into the blue plastic bay fine. I connected the power cable fine, but
couldn't find another blue data cable to connect the drive too inside
the system. Is this cable missing? I have an extra one that might work

ide to usb hard drive problem06 Jul 2007 16:22 GMT2
I have an internal drive that I have connected via a usb adapter. For
some reason now the computer recognizes that I have plugged in
something, but it tells me on more than one hard drive that it has
malfuntioned. I think the problem lies with the usb adapter. Is there
USB ports?06 Jul 2007 16:17 GMT17
Can you plug in something to get more USB ports?  I don't know how
they're wired, whether there are fan-out devices or what that make
them work with the software as if there are more ports.
(Oh, for the days of hardware manuals!  You could understand and
How do you startup different programs per user in Vista?06 Jul 2007 15:37 GMT2
One of the things I like about Vista is that when you manually add
programs to the start menu they are automatically updated for all user
accounts (much easier than always going to "All Users" in XP).
Consequently, if I want different users to have different startup
Reinstall Sonic Digital Media LE v706 Jul 2007 12:53 GMT3
I have Sonic Digital Media LE v7 pre-installed on my Dimension 5100.  It has
deteriorated to the point that it only rarely works.  How can I reinstall
only this program (not restore the whole hard drive to its new state)?
