I'm getting to the point where I want to consider backing up to DVD
instead of CD.  How much data can I write on a DVD?  It's 702 MB
for CD.  My planning program needs to know this.
Does your typical Dell laptop with DVD write capability write DVD's

I just got a 16-port  Netgear FS116 switch.  It lights up nice.
But I can't figure out what IP address range it assigns, to set up
the firewall.  I don't see it in the manual such as it is.  Is there
some standard range I don't know?

Dimension 9100 serviceability simply isn't.   (Same as some Precision 390s I
installed a few months ago.)  I took another one in for service (viruses,
malware, etc), opened it this morning, and got all the dog hair out of the
interior.   This reminded me of how awful these BTX ...

I've noticed that the XPS M1210 outlet prices have come down quite a
bit.  If anyone is considering one, or debating between that and the
new 13" laptop, you might want to check the outlet out first.

The Precision series Dell workstations have a fantastic built in SATA RAID
system from Intel that is unique in its ability to assign each SATA drive
port as either RAID or JBOD.    The inability to use JBOD drives with RAID
controllers has always been their main negative feature ...

The 24" widescreen monitor works, surprisingly, with the Inspiron 1200.
I happened to have spare PS/2 keyboard, optical mouse and PS/2 to USB
connector, and it plugged right in.
No fn key though.

Can anyone recommend a good car adapter for my Dell XPS1210? Other than the
cheesy ones on eBay? Or is that my only choice?

Ho hah!  I got (win95) Netscape 2.02 nntp news reader to
work on my Inspiron 1200 under XP.
Some options don't work but maybe I can live with it.
I would have gotten 2.01 but the link was broken.

Can I use a new unopened DELL Windows XP Pro-SP2 Restore CD that is on ebay
to upgrade my Dell Dimension to XP pro as we are going to use it in a wired

I've a strange problem.
When I try to boot, the notebook try starts from LAN!
If I enter the BIOS, in the BOOT option I seen all the lines grey and it
doesn't allow me to modify it.

I was just thinking typically we see a lot of questions that are less
Dell specific and more XP specific.  So I got thinking maybe it would
be nice to have some favorite links for XP (and Vista) from all of us
to help the rest of us here.
