Processor choice?27 Jul 2007 10:27 GMT2
We are looking for some business machines for very basic office needs and
need some guidence in comparing some of the processors offered with the
Optiplex 320 desktop.  We already have several Optiplex 320 machines so it
makes sense to me that we buy more of the same, but the ...
Your battery not on recall list?  CHECK AGAIN!!27 Jul 2007 10:22 GMT3
My Inspiron 6000 battery was *not* on the recall list some months ago when I
checked.
So I figured that was that.
Then yesterday my battery started WAY overheating the right front corner of

I recently got an Inspiron 9400 from eBay and it had Vista Business. I went
online to Best Buy and ordered an online upgrade to Ultimate but they didn't
send me an email receipt (I wonder if I mistyped the email addy?). The
online upgrade seemed to work OK but I am not sure how I ...

Vista and Me -- The Musical27 Jul 2007 03:07 GMT11
OK, maybe not the musical.
I came home today, after the requisite 25 hours and low and behold I had
a nice 3TB Raid 5 array.
One problem.

iGo universal power supply and Inspiron E150526 Jul 2007 23:12 GMT1
My iGo everywhere130 will power my E1505, but it won't charge the battery.
Does anyone know of a way to hack the E1505 to allow a 3rd party universal
AC adapter to charge the battery?
I don't know much about this, but I'm guessing that the BIOS would have to
Sonic and Dell25 Jul 2007 17:03 GMT8
I seem to remember this problem being discussed here a while ago, but
I can't find it...
A friend has a relatively new Optiplex 390 at work.  It has one Sony
DVD burner.  She needed to make a copy of a (non-commercial) DVD, so
Dim video on Dell 8100?25 Jul 2007 15:57 GMT3
This morning after starting my Dell Dimension 8100 I noticed the video
output was very dim.  Looking at it more closely, it appears to a problem
with the computer (or perhaps software), and not the monitor (which is a
Dell 1702FP) since the monitor control readouts (like ...

argh: Dell (UK) inventory problems?25 Jul 2007 09:17 GMT3
Just ordered a C521 for a user - bargain at £188 all in.  This is the
2nd I've had this month, and probably the 20th Dell I've ordered over
the past few years.  All showing as available on the website: a week
after ordering I get an email advising that it'll be delayed a month
Dell's Employee Purchase Plan24 Jul 2007 15:40 GMT1
My wife's workplace uses Dell equipment so she's entitled to purchase Dell computers under the Employee Purchase Plan (EPP).
According the literature she received from Dell: "EPP is your best value on a Dell home PC". A footnote adds: "EPP discounts [can be] taken on top of most ...

Cheap M1210's24 Jul 2007 05:35 GMT4
I just picked up a new refurbished XPS M1210 for $630 from Craig's
List.  The person selling it bought it from the outlet but never used
it, and he wasn't able to get much for it so he bargained way down.
Anyway, cheap XPS M1210's are out there now, on Craig's List, ebay,
