I just ordered an E520 with built-in video. I want to get a GeForce 7600
card My budget is in the $$125 - $150 range. There's a lot of brands out
there (ASUS/BFG/Chaintech/eVGA/etc.).
What would your recommendation be?

Need recommendations 4 RAM upgrade09 Jun 2007 18:13 GMT4
I have a 8200 Dimension and I was wondering if someone could recommend a
good (and not too expensive) RAM card (512k). I'm wondering if I should
get a 'cool' card, by that I mean, it came with 256 and the guy I bought
it from added an additional 256 with this silver metal ...
Ownership Tag on Latitude09 Jun 2007 16:03 GMT2
How do I change the "Ownership Tag" (similar to asset tag) on a Latitude
D610 that does not have a floppy drive?
The Dell asset.com utility I have installs to a floppy.  You then boot to
the floppy and the utility.  But, no floppy in this D610.

Which motherboard is in Dell E520?09 Jun 2007 13:23 GMT7
I can't seem to find information on the motherboard in the Dell 520.
The user manual is not helpful. The unintelligible Indian Tech Support
people are useless. Customer Service doesn't know.
Can anyone post the great secret?
Dell Won't Provide Warranty Support for Its Monitors To Anyone Except Original Buyer?08 Jun 2007 23:39 GMT85
We bought a few new-in-box 2407FP monitors recently, and one developed a
broken power switch.   I was appalled to call Dell support and be told that
Dell doesn't have the capability to cross reference the original order from
the serial number of the unit, and only the original ...
Bad luck with 160GB laptop hard drives08 Jun 2007 23:37 GMT7
Inspiron 6400 here.  Last December I replaced my trusty Seagate Momentus
120GB SATA drive with a Samsung HM160JI drive.   About 5 months later,
windows booted with a "lost user profile" error.  I ran SpinRite on the
Samsung drive, and SpinRate came up with a big red error message ...
XPS vs Dimension07 Jun 2007 18:12 GMT2
Priced out a Dimension E520 at $654 and an XPS 410 @ $764.  Same
system, except the E520 has Intel E6420 and the XPS has Intel E4300.
Does the XPS have any real advantages over the Dimension?
Possibly OT: Why no large PATA 2.5" hard disks?07 Jun 2007 15:34 GMT3
I've been looking around lately at laptop hard drives, thinking that I might
like to upgrade the 60GB one in my Latitude D800 to something larger. I see
drives as big as 250GB presently on the market, but they're almost
invariably SATA-only. The biggest 2.5" PATA drive I've seen is ...
touchpad driver for Dell Latitude D520 under XP Pro06 Jun 2007 20:53 GMT7
I just bought a new Dell Latitude D520 laptop. It came with Vista, but
I prefer XP Pro,
so I reformatted my disk completely and loaded XP Pro.  It works fine,
EXCEPT,

new Dells with Linux06 Jun 2007 10:46 GMT29
First off, I'm not up to speed with Linux since I never played with it
nor read about it.  That said.. now that Dell is selling it on some of
their pc's (I think dimensions) , is Linux any more, equal or less up
to speed than Vista?  I wonder if getting enough apps to run on Linux
Battery backup surge protectors06 Jun 2007 07:17 GMT29
I am looking for a battery backup surge protector>   I am thinking of an APC
but am confused by the voltage & watts.  I have a dimension 8300 with a 17"
screen.  The printer & scanner don't have to be on backup only surge.  Could
someone advise me what I should get?
