No go on the 3TB Raid30 Jun 2007 23:53 GMT5
As some may remember, I spent the last few days moving data off of 3TB
of disk in hopes of recombining them into on 3Tb Raid0 array.
Dell released the new drivers that purport to support larger arrays, at
least with Vista (which I installed).

I am having problems with my Dell 1390 wireless card (under Vista).
When I go from one network to another, it can't find the other one or
it connects with limited access (local only).
That's problem #1 -- very irritating, but I haven't Googled it yet.
Dell Optiplex GX1 RAM30 Jun 2007 12:45 GMT51
The system has 3 slots, and 1 is occupied by a 128MB 9-chip single sided
DIMM, so it has ECC but is apparently unbuffered.
I want to bring it up to 512MB, or 640MB if possible.
The Dell website has 2 RAM options listed for the GX1 -- 1 ECC registered

Just ordered an E520 with Vista.  Currently using XP Home with a
partitioned hard drive.  Drive C for Windows etc.  D for other
programs, mostly not backed up.  E for backups, cache, misc file
storage, not backed up.  F for data, backed up.

I have two laptops on vacation with me. My wife's old inspiron (9100?)
and my Dell latitude D620.
When I'm in itunes and I want to back up within a song (actually, an
audio book) the i-tunes instructions say to use control-alt-left
Removing the hidden partition30 Jun 2007 02:58 GMT16
Just got my Dell E520 with Vista. I ended up formatting due to a
larger than expected amount of bloatware on the system.
When re-installing Windows, I was able to remove the Dell backup
partition. But under disk management in Windows I'm still seeing a

What is drive D?29 Jun 2007 19:28 GMT5
My new Dimension E520 came with 10G drive D called Recovery. Is this
just a backup? What problems might be caused by deleting it?

So much of what we call management consists of making it difficult for people to work.

New Dell Laptop29 Jun 2007 17:58 GMT2
I keep getting emails from dell about a new laptop, I think its
something like 1521 but not sure.  Does anyone know how it compares to
the 1505 w/ intel processor.  It says the screen is now HD, I'm not
sure what that means.  Is it still glossy and very reflective or have

Noticed this in the FAQ:
Question - Where can I get the Windows CD?
Answer - Email or Chat with Dell. Explain your situation and the Dell
representative should issue you the Windows CD.
Dell Tries To Regain Lost Ground28 Jun 2007 18:51 GMT1
This came in one of my newsletters today.
Haven't heard of the feedback website mentioned here.
Personally I think that Dell is just treading water until they restore
competent tech support.
2 Sata drives in a 9200 dimension, can I add another?28 Jun 2007 11:54 GMT2
Opened up the 9200 the other day to see if I can fit another SATA drive
in it, but couldn't see any spare connections on the MB.
Is that the case or am I looking in the wrong place?  I currently have 2
160mb SATA drives and one 500mb USB2 drive connected.
