On my Persario 1200XL the windows splash screen fills the screen and the pre OS loaded text is awful. I cannot find any unstretch commands in the BIOS...? How to get it to look less ugly?? Cheers

I have signed up for DSL and am required to have a Ethernet card. Does my Dell Dimension 4600 computer have a Ethernet already installed? I looked under device manager (Windows XP Home)and there is a listing for a Intel (R) Pro/100 VE Network Connection. Good enough?

I am not sure if this was a "legit" Trojan because after many Google searches all the names of the .DLL's that were being created in my windows\system32 directory provided no information, but maybe that is how this beastie operates.

How can I set the Asset Tag (and Owner Tag) on my new D610 laptop? I found a utility called ASSETA00.exe. It self-extracts its files to a floppy. You must then boot the D610 from the floppy since the utility will only run under DOS.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and or comments. The "Band-Aid" I am using now is Zone Alarm. Norton's AV had been compromised so I un-installed and then re-installed it. Between ZA, Nortons, Spy Sweeper, and HiJackthis I have had no more alerts that

Will I be able to unhide the hidden drive partition(s) when I receive my Dim 9100? I want to be able to image the partitions to a usb external hard drive for safekeeping so I can then delete them from the internal drive. I have Partition Magic 8.0 and Acronis True Image.

I purchased a Dell Dimension 2400 & 9100. The 2400 came with 256MB of PC3200 DDR CL3 in one of two available [MM] slots. The 9100 has 4 [MM] slots with, in two banks, with a 256MB PC2-4200 DDR module in each bank.
