The Can-Spy Act??30 Jun 2004 23:27 GMT1
Comments from Ed Foster's Gripe Line Weblog at InfoWorld -
In case you haven't noticed, there's a very familiar pattern to
current legislative activity regarding anti-spyware laws. It's very
reminiscent of where Congress was last year at this time on anti-spam
DELL SUCKS30 Jun 2004 21:09 GMT26
I've spent HOURS on the phone with Dell over one small issue, but Dell
turns molehills into Mountains -- rack mounting a PE4400 tower into a
rack should be simple, but their technical sales people have sh.t FOR
BRAINS, and after FIVE shipments, I have:
Print setting in XP30 Jun 2004 13:54 GMT3
Just moved up (down?) to XP, and find that I have to go through a lot of
boxes to make sure my printing's in B&W.
Mac print software was very simple, everything in one box, but MS software
seems to make you click a lot of buttons just to set this.

Hi,  I want to buy a Dell Hard Drive Bracket so I can add a second,
(slave), hard drive. But I need a number to call. Or better,  a site
where I might find that bracket listed.
Thanks
Odd IE Behavior - Insp 410030 Jun 2004 08:12 GMT2
I recently rebuilt my Inspiron 4100 laptop.  I reformatted the drive to get
a very clean install.
Since then IE has had some odd behavior:  When downloading software from a
website it will occasionally "hang".  The system doesn't hang.  IE doesn't
Dell XP System restore disk ?30 Jun 2004 05:11 GMT20
Some friends of ours bought their Dell from a rent to own place. Now they
need to reformat their hard drive but they don't have the CD. Should they
call Microsoft to have a copy sent to them, or Dell ? They do have the
sticker on the side with the Windows OEM number on it.
Order Status Question30 Jun 2004 03:17 GMT1
I know the order status page is very un-reliable. I've had experience with
that on my first dell and from the post on here as well. I ordered it late
Sunday night around 12:30am pt. and I checked an hour ago. it was already on
the testing phase. is that normal after one day or so? I ...
New Topic Thread - Corporate or Home User29 Jun 2004 23:58 GMT5
As someone who is not a million miles away associated with Dell, just out of
curiosity I was wondering if most of the comments on this NG and complaints
wether valid or not (as it is immaterial) are from home users or from
Corporate users????
video editing / playback on a new Dell system29 Jun 2004 19:07 GMT2
I want to buy a budget system but want to do some video editing and
playback.  Is a Celeron Processor at 2.4GHz (Dell 2400 series) and 384
megs ram adequate for smooth editing/playback ?  If not, what is the
minimum system for smooth editing / playback ?
New 8400 What's  so special?29 Jun 2004 13:45 GMT5
What are the practical benefits of the new 8400 over the 9300?
Hyperthreading and DDR2 memory - hype (threading or otherwise) or are the
real benefits?

8400 ship issues29 Jun 2004 03:40 GMT4
Hey all:
I ordered my 8400 on June 24th, and the Customer Service rep I just called
assured me that the ship date they gave me of July 19th (!) is a worst-case
scenario and most systrems ship "way faster than that." Is it this group's

20" Dell flat panel, DVI to DVI?29 Jun 2004 02:17 GMT3
I am trying to connect my new HP A450n to my Dell 20" flat panel.  I
have the cord that came with the Dell.  It' has white connectors on
both ends and they are the same type connector.  I can locate the DVI
input on both the CPU and the monitor, but when I connect them, I get
