This might be a dumb question but... how do I correctly install an
AMD-6 CPU into the socket (7) on a Compaq Presario 1260? There are two
little tags on either side of the socket that say "open" and "lock"
and the small sliding device locks into place fine without the CPU

I'm having some problems trying to install Windows XP on an old Compaq
Presario 1260 notebook (which I know is possible from what I've read
on  various webpages).

What can I say? I saved it from an untimely end at a computer recyclers.
It's completely alive but unhappy about the state of its CMOS battery.
Specifically, it asks me for a configuration disk. I can "press F1 to
continue" and it will boot, but...I'd like to configure it if I could ...

I know it's there for a reason, but I have my computer in my bedroom,
