A few weeks ago I gave some friends a 4 yr old Presario and hooked it up for
them with a Sony monitor.  They had gotten on line and were using it
successfully for a couple of weeks when their power went out.  When the
power came back on the computer showed a black screen.  Nothing ...

I was given this compaq pesario 7585 so of course there is no restore
CD
and I do have my orig win98 CD with product ID number just in case
I have to reformat the HD, etc.

I am having a boot problem with an old Armada 7800:
1.            When I boot, I get the following message: "Non-System disk or
disk error.  Replace and strike any key when ready."  If I just hit the
Enter key, the system boots normally.  But, I can only boot from the hard

I want to install more memorey and a CD burner
 but much to my suprise there are 6 rivits on the bottom of the case!
 Do I have to drill out the rivits to get the case off?
 Is the Celeron 366mhz?

My computer is only recognizing 1 of 2 512MB Kingston.  I have updated the
BIOS as suggested by HP, but no difference.  Any ideas how I can get the
other half to work?

I had used the screen saver function and then noticed it turning
the machine off when unattended for several hours.  I took off
the screen saver (I was only using the screen saver for about 24
hours, it was a recent decision to use it).

I'm trying to replace the HDD in a Presario 2715US notebook: with the
new drive installed, how the hell do you boot to BIOS and format the
drive?  From factory Compaq put BIOS in the boot sector of the
factory HD, which of course if not present prevents you from booting
