I works at computer repair shop. Recently within a week, I received 3
Presario 2200 laptops from differrent customers. They all have the same

Just got a replacement mobo for a Compaq Deskpro EN P33. When attempting to

Presario 4704 - can it play VCD's? Is it good for Mame?15 Jun 2006 11:12 GMT2
I was recently given a Presario 4704. The specs are pretty lousy by
today's standards, only 16 megs RAM and a 1.5 gig hard drive and a 200
MHz Pentium 1.
I'd like to use it to play back VCD's. Is this feasible? If so, where
When installing a replacement mobo, will I have to reinstall the O/S?15 Jun 2006 00:26 GMT19
Putting a replacement mobo in a Compaq Deskpro EN PIII WinXP Home,
theoretically identical to the original mobo, will I have to reinstall the
O/S? Not sure if there are identifiers in a particular mobo that the O/S
needs to "see".

Deskpro EN boots itself (seemingly random)08 Jun 2006 20:33 GMT7
Working on one of these old boxes, setting it up for home use, came across
this weird problem. If I leave the power cord in, even with everything else
disconnected, the machine still manages to boot itself up more or less 15
minutes after shutdown. I'm guessing PSU or motherboard ...

Formatting a Compaq Presario02 Jun 2006 02:58 GMT1
I have a friend whose Compaq Presario recently crashed due to buildup

again - albeit slowly and with lots of freezing and glitches. I talked
to him and we decided to completely format the drive and reinstall
'Error 162 - System options not set' on compaq armada 1592 DT01 Jun 2006 19:18 GMT1
I know there are already a lot of posts about this error message, and
therefore I'm almost sure it has to be the CMOS battery  that causes
ther problem.
However, since the boot stops completely after giving this message (not

Changing CMOS battery on Compaq Presario CDS 52001 Jun 2006 04:31 GMT2
I have a 12-year-old Compaq Presario CDS 520 desktop machine that
