I have a Presario 1600. Everything was working great last week. Today,
I was cleaning up my old applications using "add/remove programs", and
deleted an application I did not recognize, thinking my son may have
put it on.  All I can remember is that it had the word "flash" in it.

first reboot i got: 162 system options not set. i changed the battery and
still have this message. what should i do next. upgrade the bios ???

My computer will not even ge past the bios.  
The monitor works, but the screen doesn't change to the bios boot

from Ebay. Except for the big scratch on the top that the seller never
disclosed it looks great. Even came in original carton and had brand new

For some reason, my Presario Laptop 12XL505  lost the ability to Hibernate.
It's not on the list of shut down options, not listed in power management.
How can I restore Hibernate capabilities?  I'm (still) running Windows ME.

I am having a boot problem with an old Armada 7800:
1.      I cannot boot from anyplace but the hard drive.  After I've booted,
the system recognizes the floppy and/or the CD.  But, during the boot
process, only the hard drive is recognized.

I have 2 Compaq Presario 2710US laptops, both with the same symptom.
When I power on, the fans kick on high speed almost immediately (well
