I'm trying to install an ethernet card in my 12XL212 but it will not recognise it? This is the second card it won't recognise, it wouldn't recognise one for my Minolta scanner. I don't have any other cards to try. Is this a common problem and is there a fix?

I've gotten a Presario 1810 P2/300Mhz Laptop hand me down from someone. It originally came with Win98. I have installed Win2K which runs fine. I know about the Win2K restart problem that this particular model has with Win2K as well as WinXP and other newer OS.

It runs with windows 98. I installed a new sound card and works fine but how do I uninstall the other one? I tried going to Device Manager and remove it from there but everytime I reboot my computer it will install itself again.
